Want to help? Have new ideas? Get in touch! Welcome to our page for the Ledyard Citizen’s Helping Animals In Need or C.H.A.I.N. We were established in late 2013 and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in 2014. Our main focus is to fulfill the needs of our local shelter, the Ledyard Animal Control, by supplying anything the pets might need in the way of food, treats, beds, toys, and medical care.
We have 4 funds that directly impact the Ledyard Animal Control, our Fixed 4 Life fund which covers the cost of spays and neuters for the shelter pets; our Emergency Medical Fund which pays for medical treatment for the shelter pets when it goes above and beyond what the shelter can afford; The Oliver Project which pays for the spays, neuters, and vaccinations as part of their TNR program; and our Pet Food Assistance Program that keeps them stocked with pet foods and treats. We also have some community outreach programs. Our biggest is our Pet Food Assistance Program in which we supply food to our local food banks; other rescues and shelters that may reach out; and our community's pet owners who express a need. We also use our Fixed 4 Life Program to assist local pet owners by paying towards the cost of a spay or neuter for their pet to make the procedure a little easier to afford. In addition, we also have our C.H.A.I.N. Lost Pet Squad that assists residents search for their lost pets along with running the Ledyard Lost and Found Pets page on Facebook. It can be found at:

Throughout the year we have various fundraisers and collection drives to meet the needs of our projects and funds. Volunteers are always appreciated to help us in these endeavors.
