DDS provides early intervention services for infants and toddlers and prepares them for school and for life. DDS helps infants/toddlers learn basic life skills, in addition to communication and social skills. Every October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) recognizes the contributions of workers with disabilities and calls attention to the barriers that still keep too many people out of the workforce.
The 2026 NDEAM theme is “Celebrating Value and Talent.” The U.S. Department of Labor is carrying last year’s theme forward in honor of America’s 250th birthday, highlighting the role people with disabilities have played in shaping workplaces, communities, and the economy.

October is one of our favorite months! Join us in supporting the Down syndrome community throughout Down Syndrome Awareness Month (DSAM). In the 1980s, NDSS helped advocate for October to receive this designation, which continues today. DSAM celebrates the many abilities of people with Down syndrome, raises awareness, breaks down barriers, and promotes advocacy. Each year, NDSS marks the month in a new way, and we invite you to get involved and spread the word. Share your support on social media using , and tag NDSS so we can repost it!

Just a friendly reminder to join DDS for a dine-in or takeout fundraiser and bake sale at Texas Roadhouse in Palmyra this upcoming Thursday, October 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Show the flyer—printed or on your phone—when you order, and Texas Roadhouse will donate 10% of food sales to DDS. Homemade baked goods will also be available by donation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
