Renee’s life took many difficult turns before she came to the Lebanon Rescue Mission Women’s Ministry. She had lost her job, faced legal challenges, and found herself homeless with nowhere to go.

But Renee was determined to rebuild her life. While in a recovery program she chose to enter, she gave birth to her son.

“He saved my life.”

Becoming a mother gave Renee renewed purpose and hope. She got clean, faced her legal challenges, and began moving forward.

When Renee arrived at the Lebanon Rescue Mission's Women's Ministry, she quickly found employment and childcare. Soon, she earned a promotion at work and began building a stable future for herself and her son.

Through it all, Renee saw God at work.

“I really believe my coming to the shelter was God’s work. I just feel blessed.”

Renee’s story is a reminder that God can bring hope and new beginnings, even after life has taken difficult turns.

Sometimes God’s blessings show up in the most unexpected ways.

At the Lebanon Rescue Mission, every donated dollar is carefully stewarded. The kitchen works hard to be frugal and avoid purchasing things that aren’t necessary.

The kitchen makes a lot of Red Beet Eggs. The supply of beets had completely run out, and had been on the store list for weeks.

Then, someone dropped off about 10 pint jars of beets.

God provided.

Eventually, those were used up too, so beets went right back on the store list.

During a recent Sunday Supper, a volunteer mentioned that her church’s food pantry had several #10 cans of food that no one was taking and wanted to share them with LRM.

The next day, she showed up with 12 BIG cans.

Guess what they were?????????????

RED BEETS. 🫜😂

God provided exactly what was needed, once again allowing LRM to be frugal with our donated dollars. This happens time and time again in the kitchen. We are so grateful!

Thanks be to God, who sends blessings bigger than we can imagine - even if they show up as red beets.

One of our longtime patients had been encouraged several times to schedule a mammogram, but fear kept her from saying yes. She had watched her own mother battle breast cancer.
During a routine appointment, one of our volunteer physicians encouraged her to take that step. He helped her understand that avoiding the screening would not change her risk, but early detection could change her outcome.
She finally said yes.
Because she was uninsured, our partnership with WellSpan Health made it possible for her to quickly receive the screening she needed. The mammogram revealed breast cancer. Because it was caught in time, treatment could begin, and she successfully underwent surgery and radiation.
Today, we are grateful to share that she is recovering and regaining her strength. She has also transitioned to Medicaid and is now receiving the ongoing specialist care she needs through Lebanon Internal Medicine Associates.
One conversation. One screening. One life changed.
We are thankful for our volunteer physicians and nurses, our community partners and your support that help make care like this possible for our patients.
