The Friends of the Lebanon Public Library was established in 1953 to support the Lebanon Public Library, providing volunteers and funds to cover services, programs, and equipment outside the Library's annual budget. As the Library expands its informational, cultural, educational, and recreational programs and services to meet the needs of our growing community, support of the Friends becomes ever
more important. The Friends give back to the Library by sponsoring reading and arts programs for children and young adults. With a generous matching grant from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, the Friends provide funding for books to give out as prizes at the annual Summer Reading Program. The Friends also sponsor tween/young adult programming, Storytime crafts, and Take & Make crafts. The Friends fund the purchase of children's board books, replacement items for kits, and special projects for the Library. Pre-pandemic, the Friends sponsored Spring Break programs, children's book clubs, craft classes, and more. We all look forward to the resumption of in-person programming at the Library. The Friends of the Lebanon Public Library is powered by the people in our community who love books and whole-heartedly support our mission to advance literacy, to encourage an appreciation of reading, and to promote a wider acquaintance of the educational and cultural facilities available at the Lebanon Public Library. Membership is free and open to people ages 14 and up. While we encourage participation, there are no obligations. Volunteer opportunities include set-up and tear down at monthly book sales and vendor events, cashiering at book sales and vendor events, sorting donated books, volunteering in the bookstore, executive service as an officer or committee member, Facebook/web administration, assistance with online sales, posting flyers, assistance with other publicity/marketing, cutting vintage books with a scroll saw, helping with our annual silent auction, transporting books or donations, and more. Pick up a membership form at the Friends' Used Bookstore or at the Lebanon Public Library and return it to the Library or drop it off at any Friends' event. Befriend your Library today!
