Happy 2nd week of BBM!

Laura and I visited 9 first meetings last week and it was a complete JOY. Every meeting has its own beautiful vibe while simultaneously offering the same amazing BBM foundation. We are excited to visit the remaining first meetings this week!

September is upon us and that back to school haze is slowly lifting for a lot of us. Look around when you are out and about in your community - who could you extend an invite to join BBM? It's not too late to get a friend connected to a group. We have 16 groups this year and many still have open space ready to welcome more mamas. Personal referrals are hugely impactful!

One way to stay connected with us this year is through the BBM page. Click this link & hit "follow" to stay connected:

If you've read this far, take a deep breath, drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw. Give yourself GRACE in the never-ending amazingness of motherhood & remember that the women of BBM are cheering you on.

Greetings!

Can you believe that the first meeting of our sixteen groups is tonight? Over the course of the next two weeks, all of you will have your first meeting for your 26-27 groups. As with anything new, the beginning can always be a bit nerve wracking. Our hope for BBM is that you are welcomed with open arms, embraced for who you are, and make connections that are vital to this specific season of life. For me, BBM has always been a soft place to land, and I hope it becomes that for you, too.

We want to give a special shout out to over 170 of you who are on the leadership team for making BBM happen. Be sure to thank your leaders, as they have been training, preparing, and getting pumped for this year for many months now. We’ll say on their behalf that we are all THRILLED to start another year together.

Who is on your heart that you’d like to invite to BBM? There are quite a few groups with openings and it’s not too late to spread the word and the love. A neighbor, co-worker, parent at school, or family member? Our community is really special and it’s easy to forget that not everyone knows it exists. And with one requirement to join (being a mom), it makes it an easy invitation.

As you walk through the doors to your BBM meeting, remember that what you give to BBM is what you will receive. Ask meaningful questions, follow up with women after hard times, and show up for one another. It will come back to you ten fold.

We are praying over you and your meetings.

If you are utilizing childcare during your BBM meetings this email is for YOU! Please take a moment to read the following email ASAP to ensure you have all the information you need as there are a couple updates.

1. If you need childcare during BBM this year, please double check that you received confirmation of your childcare registration. Childcare is available in select groups for an additional fee.

2. Once you have confirmed your childcare registration, please ensure your family is registered within the Resurrection system. Click Here to Confirm
https://my.resurrection.church/familypreregistration?_kx=jqrHehcvZnvB2OSWyQX_TFusEZ3htD3t6MN_sX4uurI.Vuyzsc

If you do not complete steps 1 & 2 prior to your meeting, your check-in process will be delayed and your childcare space will not have been reserved.

3. When you are ready to check-in for childcare, please come to the main KidsCOR entrance next to The Spring Cafe. Complete the check-in process at an open kiosk & find your child's assigned room.

When you are ready to pick-up/check-out from childcare, please enter through the doors on the North side/elevator side of The Spring Cafe.

Childcare opens approximately 5-10 minutes before each meeting and we ask that you are prompt to pick-up.

We understand these first few meetings may have a bit of a learning curve. Need help day of? Connect with a Resurrection Kids Ministry staff member on site! Need to bring your child with you to the meeting because childcare is full? No worries!

Happy half way through Summer Moms! Hope you're enjoying (surviving) the heat, endless snack requests, and camp shuttling with grace.

Michelle Jones emailed the T-shirt order information earlier this week. In case you missed it, you can email her at [email protected]

Speaking of BBM T shirts... We know many of you and your kiddos will be at Vacation Bible Camp this year! One of our favorite traditions is to have our BBM Moms (current or past) wearing our BBM shirts on Wednesday of camp to spread the BBM love—and to give everyone a chance to catch up on laundry. Wear it to drop off of pick up, wear it if you are volunteering --whatever works!

Be sure to grab a friend, snap a picture, and share it with us!

Happiest two days after Mother’s Day lovelies!

When I introduced myself a few weeks ago, I shared one of my favorite mantras: to have a village, you have to be a villager. When I joined BBM years ago, I came in searching for that village. I was the first of my friends to have kids, and I remember feeling like I was navigating my motherhood journey alone. I also remember sitting in my first few BBM meetings thinking, welp...where is it...where's the community?

Thankfully, what I eventually realized is that a village doesn’t just fall into your lap. Your hopes, your dreams, and your prayers for connection all require action. So, I kept showing up: kickoffs, meetings, the Mom's Night Out. Each time I met more moms, was a little less nervous & a little more vulnerable - piece by piece I started to lay the foundation to my BBM village. I then moved from showing up to serving: from table leading and co-leading to Bright Futures and sitting on the Mom Panel for our favorite meeting. With every volunteer role, my village grew.

I can honestly say today that the village I was seeking is no longer just in B252 for me. It shows up in small ways like the grocery store, the park, church, and it shows up in big ways like when my husband was out of work for 10 months in 2023 to 2024. I am met with community because I chose to stop simply looking for a village and started being a villager. My hope is that you're able to find at least a portion of your village in BBM too. If you're ready to jump in, registration for next year's groups are live & we have a group for every mom. Ready to be a villager?

Towards the end of last week, I went to the zoo with a couple friends for the first time in a while. Our older kids are all in full-time school and we each had our youngest with us. I was running earlier than I had anticipated that morning and in the first few minutes of the drive I was thinking about how much easier it was to have my 4 year old with me than when I had gone to the zoo with my kids when they were younger, and certainly easier than when they were babies. It doesn't seem that long ago that I had a double stroller, diapers, wipes, and all kinds of accessories to make it through an outing. I was feeling really good about how seamless it was leaving the house until I realized we hadn’t put on my daughter’s jacket and I had also forgotten our sunscreen. Also, I forgot I was running on empty and knew I had to get gas.

So! After retrieving our items and filling up the tank, we made it to the zoo (along with seemingly all of the field trip buses from the entire KC metro) and we had a wonderful day exploring! It made me laugh that even though I was in an “easier” stage of parenting, we are always less than perfect. I also took a lot of the day reflecting on how grown up my daughter seemed. She was checking the map constantly, begging to take pictures on my phone, and directing my friend’s kids when it was time to leave an exhibit. We ended up spending most of the day with the animals and when we got home, we found that I had left the garage door open the whole time! Nothing like feeling like you have it all together and then being met with your mistakes.

Her preschool graduation is coming up and it will be quite the transition for our family. I’m trying to savor the slower weekdays we have right now, documenting her "little kid” phrases and thoughts, and allowing her the space for independence and growth. While I face preschool graduation, I know so many of you are already in the middle of high school and college graduations, bringing home newborns, welcoming grandbabies, or prepping to be empty nesters.

Something about motherhood is always changing, in obvious ways like the milestones listed above, and in less obvious ways, such as not knowing the last time you needed to apply ni**le cream, not having to nag your kids to take a bath, or not having to remind them to keep their phone charged before they leave the house for a night out with friends. Our kids are constantly growing, changing, and so are we! It’s a great reminder of why having a support system in place, like BBM, can help us stay focused on the big picture and share in each other’s joys, mistakes, and life experiences.
