Made it out to the field Saturday before the weather turned. A few guys were out with jets and the control line crew were practicing. A big fellow flew over on its way to the Ford pland to raise some trusses.

Spent the day with the RC BARNSTORMERS
CHARTER # 1725 at Hillsdale lake. Beautiful field with N/S and E/W manicured grass strips, a great shealter, and an amazing area for setting up and working on planes. And the chili dogs were ouf of this world. Plan on visiting them for their next event. Here’s a few pics.

Got the Aeroworks Extra 260 out for the first time since the move. Dang I forgot about how good a flyer this is. 6s 3200 and had a strong 6 minutes of airtime. Best thing it’s small enough to fit in the car with wing on. Thanks Jerry😎

Got out to the field but 15mph cross winds combined with 55 degree temp is not much fun. I was able to maiden this Sig Astro-Hog and can say it is going to become a regular at the field this summer.

Not my plane but I did the video after a recent KCRC club meeting at the field. Older foamy running on 5S. Yes that is a full scale Cessna on long approach to the Lee Summit airport.

Got the Hangar 9 Pulse 60 out today. Really a nice flying plane. ARF from light ply and balsa. Power60 and 6s provides planty of power. 20 mile an hour winds today with stronger gusts. 4 flights and not a nose over. Apparently they did several sizes of this plane back in the day. Would pick up the 120 given the chance.

Some updated pics as we get closer to madian. Best upgrade is rerouting of wiring so that all connections are made from the top hatch and not have to struggle with servo leads while balancing a fuse and wing.
Just need to check balance and wait for a warm breeze out of the south.

Just getting around to cleaning the Saito and OS Surpass engines picked up the last couple years at swap meets. Most were frozen or hard to turn over, valves stuck, and carb barrels that wouldn’t budge. First rule is not to force anything. A few drops of oil on the stuck pieces along with a heat gun and things almost always loosen up. None of these had bearings that were bad just needed a little TLC. I did give them a “hot” bath in Glycol to get the burnt fuel lacquer off the surface. They cleaned up pretty nice. Next step is to run them on the test stand to heat them up and blow out any gunk that is left. Then a little after run oil and a nap until an airframe comes along. Just to note I’m not telling you how to do it to your engines just sharing what I did to mine. They are in good company in the Hanger with a Saito 180 converted to run gas in a Great Planes Stearman, a Saito 100 in a Topflight P51 awaiting wing repair, Saito FA-90T on a Sig Four Star 60, Saito 85 in a Hangar9 AT-6, and a Saito 40 in a balsa RV-4. Always on the lookout for a Saito radial if you know of one.
