Leading up to National Public Lands Day on September 26th, we’re joining Save Our Public Lands, Outdoor Alliance, and partners throughout the outdoor community to collect 1 million signatures to Congress to send a clear message that public lands should remain in public hands.

The Runners For Public Lands team is heading back to D.C. next week!

We are bringing important topics into our discussions with Congress - Roadless Rule, Travel Management Rule, and Legacy Restoration Fund. The team is excited to advocate for public lands on the hill as well as activate two of our Run For Roadless runs with Patagonia.

Amidst the news of the Roadless Rule comment period opening, there is another piece of legislation in which we are in need of runner support!

The current administration is proposing to change how motorized use is managed on roads and trails in national forests.The Travel Management Rule currently establishes the framework for National Forest Service to determine where cars, trucks, dirt bikes, ATVs, and other motor vehicles can travel.

Travel management decisions help influence whether a trail remains quiet and narrow, whether runners encounter more vehicle traffic, dust, noise, or erosion, and whether long-distance routes continue to feel remote and intact. For runners, the issue is not simply whether a trail remains open. It is whether the qualities that make that trail worth running are preserved.

New this month: Run for Roadless group runs at select Patagonia locations. Come join RPL as we work to educate more of the running community on why protecting the Roadless Rule is critical for our community.

If you’re heading to mammoth trailfest. in a few weeks, stop by the RPL tent! We will have a nature exploration for kids of all ages and RPL Trivia on Friday.
