Spring Sober Celebration - May 29th, 2026

From 7:00 to 10:00 PM, Baywood’s Spring Sober Celebration brought people together for an evening of music, refreshments, laughter, and good company. The event created a welcoming space to relax, connect, and simply enjoy time together while celebrating recovery and the progress being made every day.

The Spring Sober Celebration offered a chance to strengthen healthy relationships, enjoy fellowship in a supportive setting, and experience the simple joy of being part of a community where connection and celebration are possible without drugs or alcohol. Nights like this are an important reminder that recovery can include fun, friendship, and meaningful moments shared with others.

June is PTSD Awareness Month.

Trauma can affect anyone. For some, it comes through military service or work as a first responder. For others, it may come from addiction, loss, instability, violence, or difficult life experiences.

Healing is possible. Support matters. No one should have to face trauma alone.

This past weekend, Schuyler Inn hosted a special Mother’s Day celebration, putting on a beautiful, encouraging tribute dedicated to the daily struggles and hidden triumphs of being a mom.

A special thank you to everyone who donated gifts and helped make the day meaningful, to pastor Neska and her crew for helping host the event, and to Aisha Thomas for coordinating a child focused activity space so mothers could relax, connect, and enjoy the celebration. And finally to The Invisible Elephant Foundation CEO Kalyn Ruggiero for making the gift bags.

Moments like these remind us that recovery, stability, and support are built through community and care.

Stay cool during the hot days!!

With high temperatures hitting our region this week, I have authorized the opening of Albany’s spray pads to help residents stay cool.

For today only, May 19, these locations are open from 10am to 6pm. Spray pads will be permanently open on Memorial Day.:

Take time to protect yourself and your family:

- Stay hydrated and drink fluids regularly
- Seek air conditioning or cool indoor spaces, including Albany Public Library branches during regular hours

Trauma affects more than a single moment. It can shape how a person thinks, reacts, trusts, connects with others, and feels safe in the world around them.

Across many PYHIT programs, trauma is part of the story people carry with them long before recovery, housing stability, mental health support, or rebuilding can begin. That is why compassion, patience, structure, and human connection matter so much in the work being done every day.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that healing is not weakness, and asking for help is not failure. Recovery and support begin when people are treated with dignity, understanding, and care.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Visit us at: https://www.pyhit.org/programs

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health affects individuals, families, and communities every day. Throughout May, PYHIT recognizes the importance of awareness, recovery support, safe environments, and access to services for those facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Across our programs, we remain committed to helping individuals and families work toward stability, recovery, and wellness through housing services, outpatient treatment, reintegration support, and community-based care.

If you or someone you know needs support, help is available.
