Remembrance - Resilience - Community

After years of hard work and effort, groundbreaking has taken place for the Forever One Memorial. This permanent memorial will honor those we lost on in 2017 and the response by the Las community in the aftermath of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. History.

Clark County has been proud to support the process to make the memorial a reality. We created the 1 October Memorial Committee which solicited proposals and ultimately selected the proposed design for the memorial. The county has also provided financial assistance towards construction costs. Commission Chairman Michael Naft along with Commissioners Jim Gibson, Marilyn Kirkpatrick and William McCurdy represented Clark County at the groundbreaking.

The memorial is being built on two acres just off the Las Vegas strip where the tragedy happened during the Route 91 Harvest Festival. The goal is to have it open by October 1, 2028 - that will be 10 years after the attack.

The memorial will feature a Remembrance Ring, an open space with 58 vertical candles of light, one for each person who died on 1 October. In the time since, two others lost their lives as a result of injuries suffered that night and others have passed from physical and psychological wounds. The Forever One Memorial will include a special tribute to those individuals.

Today, we broke ground on the Forever One Memorial—a place to remember the 58 angels, honor survivors, support their families, and help future generations learn what happened here.

We’re grateful to Clark County for including the Forever One Memorial in this year’s “Remembering 1 October” exhibit at the Clark County Government Center, on display in the Rotunda Gallery September 28–October 8.

We invite you to visit the exhibit to see a life-size replica of one of the 15-foot candles planned for the Remembrance Ring, which will feature a total of 58, along with our memorial renderings, fly-through animation, and postcards with a QR code to learn more.

Thank you to Shanahan Suites for hosting a Community Memorial Mural event yesterday!

Forever One Memorial was honored to be part of this community effort to create a permanent memorial honoring the lives lost on 1 October 2017. The mural will also serve as a beautiful backdrop for the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden.

If you’d like to add your own heart to the mural, artists will be back on site Thursday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to continue the work started this weekend. 🧡💜

A meaningful new chapter is taking shape at the Forever One Memorial site.

As crews begin preparing the grounds by removing asphalt and structures that have remained on the property, we’re almost ready to begin transforming the site into the place we’ve envisioned for the 58 angels, their families, and every survivor whose life was forever changed. This site preparation is an important step toward the official construction.

While there is still work ahead, seeing activity on these grounds is a powerful reminder of what we are building together: a place to remember the 58, honor the survivors, support their families, and ensure their stories are never forgotten.

We’re grateful to continue sharing this journey with the Forever One community as our vision moves forward.
