What a great day this was for our state! We’re proud to play a supporting role in helping this cultural treasure succeed in its mission. If you’d like to become a member of the Friends of the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, please visit our website at farmandranchfriends.org!

On May 17, 1998, the Museum opened to the public. For the past 28 years, the 47-acre patch of desert on the southeastern edge of Las Cruces has blossomed into a vibrant, world-class museum with several structures, outstanding permanent and changing exhibits, a livestock program that is considered a “national model,” educational offerings for children and adults, and popular annual events.

With great support from the Friends of the Museum, the Las Cruces community, and the State of New Mexico, we are looking forward to the next 28 years of sharing our state's unique history of growing food and fiber.

🎉📰 BIG NEWS! We’re proud to share that New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum has officially been reaccredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) 🏛️ — the highest national recognition for museums in the United States.

Of the nation’s estimated 33,000 museums, roughly 1,100 are currently accredited. NMFRHM is one of only 26 museums accredited in New Mexico and received its first accreditation in 2015.

“Reaccreditation by the American Alliance of Museums is a significant accomplishment for the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum,” Interim Director Steve Loring said. “This reflects the excellent work done by our staff and volunteers who truly care about the Museum.”
