Jordan is fantastic. Come see why, at our August 8th meeting, 7-8 AM, when club president Vince Gutschick presents images from the trip he and his family took in June to Amman, Jerash, Madaba, Wadi Mujib, Kerak, Dana Biosphere Reserve, Petra (!!!), Aqaba, Wadi Rum, and Shobak castle. We meet at the Oasis Room of the Good Samaritan Village. Breakfast, of fairly diverse sorts, can be purchased for $7.25. The closest entrance is via the Social Center double doors at 3011 Buena Vida Circle. We've been acting to support our local community. On June 11th, we donated $50 to the Asombro Institute (http://www.asombro.org/) to help them reach the 19,000 children who learn some science from them each year. At our July 25th meeting, we authorized donations of $100 to Coats for Kids Las Cruces (http://www.lascrucescoatsforkids.com/) and $400 to buy school supplies for LCPS kids.

We sponsor two Key Clubs for students at Onate and Centennial High Schools. Students learn leadership and raise funds for important causes such as Project Eliminate, targeting the eradication of neonatal tetanus that kills infants and their mothers in the Third World. The project, run in cooperation with the Gates Foundation and others, has had great success; please see http://sites.kiwanis.org/Kiwanis/en/theELIMINATEproject/home.aspx.

The Eliminate Project, kiwanis global campaign for children, uniting with UNICEF to eliminate maternal/ neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the earth.
