🎃🐾 HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN FROM DACHS! 🐾🎃

Wishing all our furry friends and their humans a spooktacular Halloween filled with treats, tail wags, purrs, and plenty of Halloween fun! 👻🐶🐱

Whether your pets are dressed up as little monsters or spooky skeletons, we hope their day is filled with love, laughter, and a few extra treats!

At the Doña Ana County Humane Society (DACHS), Halloween is also a reminder of why we do what we do. Every day, we're working to keep people and pets together by helping local families access the resources and veterinary care they need to keep their beloved companions healthy and happy. 💙

🧡 A few Halloween safety tips for your four-legged family members:
🎃 Keep chocolate and other Halloween candy out of paw's reach.
🐾 Make sure pets have collars with up-to-date identification.
👻 Give nervous pets a quiet, safe place away from the Halloween hustle and bustle.
🕷️ Keep decorations, candles, and electrical cords out of curious paws' reach.

From all of us at DACHS, we hope you have a HOWL-arious Halloween filled with more treats than tricks! 🐾🧡

Thank you for being part of our mission to keep people and pets together!

🐱💙 Happy National Cat Day! 💙🐱

Today, we’re celebrating the cats who fill our homes with purrs, personality, and plenty of love! Whether they’re curled up in our laps, chasing their favorite toys, or reminding us who really runs the house, our feline friends make life a little sweeter. 🐾

At the Doña Ana County Humane Society (DACHS), we believe every cat deserves the chance to live a healthy, happy life with the people who love them. Through our Animal Relief Fund (ARF), we help local families access veterinary care, medications, and vaccinations for their beloved pets—because financial hardship should never stand between a family and the companion they love.

🐾 How can you celebrate National Cat Day?
💕 Give your cat some extra snuggles and treats!
💕 Consider adopting or fostering a cat in need.
💕 Support organizations that help keep pets healthy and families together.
💕 Make a donation to DACHS to help local cats get the care they deserve!

Today, and every day, we're grateful for the love our feline friends bring into our lives and for the compassionate supporters who help us care for them.

Together, we can keep the purrs coming and keep people and pets together! 💙

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks—or find your perfect companion later in life? 🐶🐱

DACHS is proud to support our Pets for Seniors program in partnership with the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV)! Through this program, senior citizens can receive a $25 discount on adoption fees when adopting a pet from ASCMV.

We believe everyone deserves the love, companionship, and joy that a pet can bring. Whether it’s a loyal pup joining you for daily walks or a sweet kitty curling up beside you, the bond between seniors and their pets can make every day a little brighter. 🐾

Adopting a pet gives an animal a loving home while bringing a wonderful new friend into your life. It’s a win-win!

Know a senior citizen who could use a little extra love in their life? Share this post and help us spread the word!

Together, we’re keeping people and pets together. 💙

🚨 SCREWWORM UPDATE – DOÑA ANA COUNTY 🚨

New World screwworm (NWS) has now been detected in Doña Ana County, in addition to the recent detections in Hidalgo and Otero counties.

We encourage all animal owners to stay alert and take preventative measures to protect their animals. 🐴🐄🐶

🔎 What can you do?
• Check your animals frequently for wounds, maggots, or unusual signs.
• Clean, cover, and seek prompt veterinary treatment for any wounds.
• Avoid unnecessary injuries and contact your veterinarian immediately if you suspect a screwworm infestation.

❤️ Right now, the most important thing is not to panic or have fear. This is manageable and treatable. Please feel free to reach out to our veterinary staff or your local Cooperative Extension office for guidance and outreach materials for your clients.

Stay informed, stay proactive, and continue monitoring your animals for any concerning signs.

Every puppy deserves a great start, and Bonnie is getting just that!🐶🐾💙

Bonnie recently participated in DACHS’ Ruff to Ready program, where she worked on puppy foundations and learning how to successfully integrate with other pets. These important skills help puppies build confidence, develop good habits, and become well-adjusted members of their families. 🐕🐾

Through Ruff to Ready, DACHS provides guidance and support to help dogs and their families navigate life together. From puppy basics to building positive relationships with other pets, we’re here to help set everyone up for success!

Because when pets and people have the tools they need to thrive together, everyone wins. ❤️
