The district knows how to hire good people. We support the entire school and we love what we do! We do what it takes to get the job done. Isn't it about time we put a little of that dedication towards ourselves?

I don't know about you, but I do more than my job description every day because I love my school. I shouldn't have to have three sources of income just to survive till the next paycheck. Minimum wage went up a $1.00. Are we not worth more than minimum wage?

I think the school board needs to hear from us. Don't you?

📢 PESPA BARGAINING UPDATE 📢

PESPA has declared impasse in salary negotiations with Pinellas County Schools.

The District's current proposal is a 2.5% raise plus an increase in referendum supplements. (due to increase in taxes collected from Pinellas County residents, not a salary offer from the district.)

PESPA's concern remains the same: Will the proposed increases be enough to offset rising healthcare costs and protect employees' take-home pay?

**Impasse does NOT mean negotiations are over.**

It begins a formal process to help resolve outstanding issues, while both parties can continue working toward an agreement.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at 4 PM.

We'll continue sharing information so every support professional can follow the process.

On Friday, October 9th, PESPA met with Pinellas County Schools for another round of contract negotiations.

PESPA presented a revised wage proposal of $0.75 per hour now, with an additional $0.75 in June.

The District maintained its 2.5% wage offer.

With the two sides unable to reach an agreement, PESPA declared impasse.

But you don't have to rely on Facebook posts, press releases, or someone else's interpretation of what happened.

***A Little Personal Update from Alisha McGinnis...***

I want to apologize for being quiet here over the past three weeks.

On September 20th, my son Austin McGinnis was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. I used all of my available vacation and sick time to be by his side as he began his long road to recovery.

Austin is also a Pinellas County Schools employee, working as a Technology Technician. So when I advocate for our support professionals, I'm not just advocating for my coworkers. I'm advocating for my son and his coworkers, too.

I'm back at work now, and I'm back to keeping you informed, sharing important updates, and advocating for the people who keep our schools running.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while I focused on my family.

I'm still here. I'm still committed. And I'm still standing with you.
