Sept 10, 2026. We wish we had better news to share, but our sweet Shirley has been struggling the last few days. We arranged for her to be seen by the vet today and our hearts are heavy with the decision that it is time to let her rest and cross the Rainbow Bridge. She was surrounded by love, comfort, and tenderness as we said goodbye. Thank you to everyone who has supported and prayed for Shirley on her journey.

I’m feeling cautiously optimistic: her mast cell tumors appear to be shrinking! The tumor on her ear definitely looks smaller and feels much looser rather than tight, and the large one on her shoulder seems to be scaling down as well. While it’s a bit tricky to measure because of its initial size, I really believe the medications are working. Best of all, Shirley remains happy, comfortable, and completely stress-free.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick update on Shirley. We received her biopsy results back and unfortunately, it confirmed a mast cell tumor.😓
Because a mass was removed just a few months ago and this new growth—along with a very large mass on her shoulder—has appeared so quickly, surgery is not a great option this time.
The good news☺️ is that Shirley still has good energy, a bright spirit, and isn't ready for the Rainbow Bridge just yet. To keep her comfortable and give her the best quality of life possible, we are starting her on a palliative care routine to help reduce the severe inflammation and hopefully shrink the tumors and keep them from getting angry. I am also going to look into a homeopathic remedy that might aid in keeping her comfortable.
Right now, our goal is simply to spoil her, keep her comfortable, and enjoy every good day she has with us. Thank you all so much for the prayers and concern—I’ll keep everyone posted on how she responds to the medication over the coming days! 😓
Prayers for Sweet Shirley 🐾💔
We are asking for all the love, positive vibes, and prayers you can send for our girl Shirley right now.
A few months ago, Shirley had a tiny, grape-sized mass removed from her ear and recovered like a champ. But a couple of days ago, we noticed a tangerine-sized mass had formed behind her ear almost overnight. Just two days later, an even larger mass appeared in her shoulder—both growing rapidly and aggressively.
Watching her go through this so quickly is completely heartbreaking, and we are working closely with our vet to get her immediate answers, diagnostics, and comfort care.
Shirley is such a sweet soul and a fighter, but she needs all the extra love she can get right now. Please keep her in your thoughts and pray for good news, comfort, and healing.
We will keep everyone updated as we learn more. Thank you all for always surrounding our sweet residents with so much love. ❤️🙏
