UPDATE ON LOST DOG ZAK in Solebury Township Bucks Co PA

Sadly late yesterday Zak was found deceased in the pond that he had wandered down to late Thursday night.

He had been out of his owner’s sight for just a moment when he heard a fox scream. The fox must have scared Zak who was 15, blind, deaf, and on seizure medications. There were no wounds so he possibly had a seizure and fell in.

The owner is grateful to his team of friends including Lisa Frushone and Caren Franz…and Stefan and Karl and Laurie and others who walked miles searching as well as providing great emotional support…and for Lambertville Animal Welfare - Lost-Found - Adoptable Pets for all of their help. He is also very grateful to Solebury Township Police who came out on Friday with their thermal drone to search the property.

Zak was the owner’s best friend and best dog ever. He is heartbroken and has a lot of tears to shed… but yesterday as the sun was setting we sat in the yard with Zak talking about his wonderful and long life, we wondered if he knew it was his time and wandered off on purpose, and we drank Prosecco and toasted all the love and joy Zak brought to his owner and so many others.

UPDATE: Sat AM - still missing. The dog lives on a very large wooded property and search teams are out. We have a camera set up. With gratitude to the Solebury Police who came out yesterday with their thermal drone to search. It was very difficult though as the high humidity reduced the thermal imaging and contrast.

He is old - deaf/blind. Disappeared suddenly last night 9/3 after owner (who was out with him) heard what sounded like an animal attack.

Please look around your property, under decks, other hiding areas in the hopes that he is hunkered down.

GREAT UPDATE ON BIG BOY WITH THE BROKEN LEG!

Big Boy had his surgery on Thursday and is home resting comfortably (with the help of great pain meds!)

A huge thank you to The Bridge Clinic in Bensalem for offering low cost services that saved his life. His owner Toni was so impressed with the time they took to explain everything to her with such professionalism and kindness.

He will go back for a 2 week and 4 week recheck.

Thank you to everyone who sent in a donation to help with the cost of his surgery as it helped more than you know. ❤️

When Toni called us crying with the initial diagnosis of “surgery or euthanasia” she felt helpless and hopeless - she had no money (especially $8k which is the cost of this surgery at many vet hospitals) so we knew we had to find a way to help them both.

Lots of phone calls over several days and www.thebridgeclinic.org came through with a $2300 quote! Phew that was a life saver! (Side note that the initial Vet visit to Pura Vida was $700 for a total of $3000…Lambertville Animal Welfare paid $1500 of this) 🐈‍⬛

A huge shout out to Matthew, a long time friend of LAW who generously offered to be Toni and Big Boy’s driver for the day making 2.5 hour round trips TWICE and being there for them for support as well. True kindness 🤍

SOS NEED LOW COST VET SURGERY ASAP! Ideas???

“Big Boy” had a freak accident over the weekend and fractured/broke his back leg.

He is a very healthy 15 year old and his owner adores him - he is her soulmate kitty so euthanasia would be too heartbreaking for her. He is 18 pounds so amputation would be tough on him. He needs surgery to have a plate put in.

His owner Toni has been a part of our rescue collaboration in Hunterdon for many years and is the daily feeder for a large group of Community Cats.

Toni has had housing and financial challenges for many years, thus the need for a low cost option.
