At Kalmia’s June social outside our historic pink clubhouse, Kalmia members celebrated the year-long work of its committee and board members and announced the record-breaking success of its annual Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour. Members also got to meet three of the young women benefiting from scholarships funded in part by the tour and very generous donors.

This year, Kalmia awarded $65,000 in scholarships to three exceptional young women who exemplify the organization’s values of IMPACT: Inspiration, Motivation, Perseverance, Aspirations, Community and Transformation. Scholarship recipients are:

--Adrianna Mendoza, a graduate of Hunterdon Central High School, received the Julia Grace Falk Scholarship, valued at $40,000 over four years ($10,000 annually), and will attend the University of Connecticut.

--Breanna Tustison, a graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School, received a $15,000 Julia Grace Falk Scholarship and will attend Bucks County Community College.

--Iona Hirschland MacDonald, graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School, received the $10,000 Kalmia Club Legacy High School Senior Scholarship. Iona will attend Cornell University.

Adrianna is pictured at the social at right, with Breanna. Iona is pictured with Kalmia vice president Ree Czajkowski at the high school.

The Julia Grace Falk Scholarship was established by Julia’s parents, Kalmia Club member Karla Feuer and her husband Bill Falk, in loving memory of their daughter. The scholarship honors Julia’s passion for serving others, strengthening communities and advancing positive societal change.

The Kalmia Legacy scholarship is awarded annually to graduating women from South Hunterdon Regional High School and New Hope-Solebury High School pursuing higher education at a college, vocational or trade school.

In addition to its scholarship program, the Kalmia Club sponsors deserving juniors from South Hunterdon Regional High School to attend the Girls Career Institute (GCI), a weeklong leadership and career exploration program that offers a “mini college experience” at Douglass Residential College on the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick.

This year’s GCI recipients are Juneabea Horsnall (pictured at Kalmia’s social with her parents), Lauren Zuniga and Emma Miville. The GCI committee is co-chaired by Cheryl Cvetan and Deb Kelly.

The Kalmia Club has awarded annual scholarships to local young women since 1999. Recipients are selected through a competitive process that considers community service, leadership, essays and personal interviews conducted by the club’s scholarship committee.

The Kalmia Club and its garden tour and gardeners reception committee members would like to thank everyone who supported the 2026 Hidden Gardens Tour by buying a ticket or an ad in our tour booklet.

We especially thank the gardeners who so generously opened their hidden treasures to the public, helping us raise money for scholarships for young women and to support Kalmia's many civic endeavors, including preservation of our historic pink clubhouse on York Street. We know how many hours you dedicated to preparing your gardens for visitors and your hard work showed in every flower, plant, walkway and special touches. Your generosity and dedication made this year’s tour a truly special experience for all who attended.

Finally, a HUGE shout out to Garden Tour Committee Chair Donna Puluka (seen here in pink), whose dedication and hard work over the past 6 months helped make this year’s tour such a memorable and rewarding event.

Mark your calendar for the 2027 tour, taking place as always the 2nd week of every June. If you’d like your garden featured in 2027, please email us at [email protected].
