💙 We're proud to share that Fisherman's Mark Executive Director Jennifer Williford recently served as a panelist at the 2026 Feeding NJ Conference, joining food security leaders from across New Jersey for a discussion on the importance of wraparound services.

Jennifer shared how Fisherman's Mark pairs food support with services such as case management, resource navigation, benefits assistance, and referrals to help individuals and families address the underlying challenges that can contribute to food insecurity.

Because while food assistance is essential, lasting stability often requires a broader network of support.

We're honored to have had the opportunity to share Fisherman's Mark's approach and contribute to this important statewide conversation.

A heartfelt thank you to the Bucks County Herald Newspaper for highlighting Fisherman's Mark and our efforts to secure a permanent home for the Free MARKet and our food support programs.

As demand for food assistance continues to grow, establishing a permanent home will help ensure that we can continue providing food, meals, and support services to our community for years to come. Nearly 70% of the individuals and families we serve live in Lambertville, and having a stable, accessible location is critical to meeting their needs.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share our story and for the community members, supporters, volunteers, and partners on both sides of the river who make this work possible every day.

🍕 We Need Your Ideas! Help Us Name a New Program 🍕

Recently, six ESL students from South Hunterdon High School visited Fisherman's Mark for a fun and delicious challenge.

After learning about the Free MARKet and the work we do in the community, students teamed up to create their own pizza recipes. They practiced teamwork, creativity, and culinary skills before presenting their creations for judging.

🏆 The winning pizza, "Panchito," featured chicken pepperoni, peppers, onions, and jalapeños!

The experience was such a hit that we're thinking about making it a regular program offering for kids and teens.

Participants would:

🍕 Learn about Fisherman's Mark and the Free MARKet
🍕 Build teamwork and communication skills
🍕 Create and prepare their own pizza recipes
🍕 Compete in a friendly pizza challenge
🍕 Have a LOT of fun!

Now comes the important part...
What should we call it?

We've brainstormed a few ideas:

• Free MARKet Pizza Challenge
• Free MARKet Food Lab
• Junior Chef Challenge at the Free MARKet

But we know our community can do better!

🎉 Happy Birthday, Ricardo! 🎉

Today we're celebrating Ricardo Zapata, Fisherman's Mark's Director of Operations, and the many ways he helps strengthen our organization and community.

Ricardo oversees operations, manages our food support program, and helps connect neighbors with the resources and support they need. But anyone who knows Ricardo knows his impact goes far beyond his job description.

Whether he's welcoming a new volunteer, supporting a program participant, coaching youth soccer, helping at a community event, or getting down on the floor to blow bubbles with children, Ricardo brings kindness, humor, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others.

As Ricardo often reminds us:

"Over time, after talking with so many clients from all walks of life, you begin to realize that there is very little that separates us from them."

That perspective—and the empathy that comes with it—helps make Fisherman's Mark a place where neighbors truly help neighbors.

💙 Young people, big impact. 💙

Recently, Girls on the Run NJ East South Hunterdon made Fisherman's Mark the focus of its community impact project!

When asked why they chose Fisherman's Mark, their answer melted our hearts:

"Because you guys are all so nice and you all help people, and we wanted to be able to help people in need, too!"

Together, these elementary and middle school students collected and donated three boxes of canned goods and shelf-stable food to support our neighbors.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others. We're inspired by your compassion and community spirit!

💙 Celebrating the Volunteers Who Make Fisherman's Mark Possible 💙

Last month, we gathered at Unionville Vineyards to celebrate the incredible volunteers who help make our work possible every day.

Together, Fisherman's Mark's 125 volunteers contributed more than 6,500 hours of service this year—representing an estimated $226,000 in value to our organization.

From stocking shelves at the Free MARKet and delivering groceries to supporting events, answering phones, writing thank-you cards, serving on committees, and helping neighbors in countless other ways, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

A special congratulations to Cathy and Tim Sandford, recipients of the Linda Meacham Excellence in Volunteerism Award. Through their many years of service—and their role in helping build community partnerships that continue to benefit local families—they exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that strengthens our community.

We were also pleased to recognize many other outstanding volunteers and celebrate David's retirement after years of dedicated service.

Thank you to every volunteer who helps Fisherman's Mark remain a place where neighbors help neighbors. We couldn't do it without you. 💙

Throughout the summer, Fisherman's Mark provides lunches and meal support to local children through our FLY (Feeding Local Youth) program.
