Avery's Hope Executive Director, Caryl Harris (right), was grateful to participate in Rare Across America which gives advocates the opportunity to meet with their members of Congress and ask them to support bills critical to the rare disease community.

Thank you Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick for cosponsoring the bills so important to rare disease patients and families, and for personally assisting those constituents in need of government advocacy. Thank you for

For more than seven months, a 9-month-old little boy living with short bowel syndrome and other complex medical conditions has called the hospital home. Since Christmas 2025, his mom has remained by his side every day, learning the specialized care he'll need when he is finally discharged this month—including how to administer his life-sustaining nutrition through a central line.

While this family celebrates the joy of going home, they also face new challenges. Mom will continue taking time away from work to ensure her son remains medically stable, adding even more financial strain to an already overwhelming journey.

This is why Avery's Hope exists.

You can help by volunteering or riding in the 11th Annual Cycling Event on 9/20.

Last night Avery's Hope Board of Directors reviewed and approved 6 BrAvery Awards to help families manage the high cost of raising a child with a rare disease; that's 4 more than the same time last year. It's only July and we have exceeded the number of BrAvery Awards from all of 2025.

We are grateful to be the beneficiary of an upcoming Funny Fundraiser. If you or someone you know lives in the Bucks County area, come on out and join us. We will be laughing for a very good cause.

Volunteering on the WaWa Cart at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, at the Middleman campus in King of Prussia, was a privilege and an honor. Bringing comfort to parents, care partners, patients and staff were Jake Murphy, Co-Treasurer, Lisa Jordan, Board President and Caryl Harris, Co-Founder and Executive Director.

Special thanks to Marsha Pilgrim, Volunteer Services Coordinator, for setting this up, and Connie Wanenchak Egan for spending the time to take us around the hospital and teach us about each of the floors and departments.

As you celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday, we hope you’ll take a moment to think about the dads spending the day at their child’s hospital bedside.

Meet Braydon’s dad.

This Father’s Day, he will be at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with his five-year-old son, Braydon, who is courageously battling very early onset IBD and X-linked chronic granulomatous disease—a rare genetic disorder that prevents certain white blood cells from fighting infection. Braydon is now also facing a bone marrow transplant.

Like so many rare disease families, Braydon’s parents are doing everything they can to keep their family afloat. Both mom and dad work, yet the financial strain continues to grow. Because Braydon’s complex condition cannot be managed locally, the family must travel more than three hours to CHOP for specialized care. Between travel, lodging, meals, lost work time, and other uncovered medical expenses, the burden is overwhelming.

Despite these challenges, Braydon’s family remains incredibly strong and resilient. They are caring not only for Braydon, but for their other children as well—all while navigating a difficult and uncertain road.

This Father’s Day, let’s show Braydon’s dad—and the many fathers spending the holiday beside a hospital bed—that they are not alone.

A donation of any size can help ease the financial burden and provide support when it’s needed most.

Thank you for , and for standing with families like Braydon’s.
