Lakeport Firefighter's Lakeport Firefighters Event Page and Information With historical evolution and over 125 years of service the department has evolved into what it is today.

Lakeport Volunteer Firefighters Association was founded in 1894 from a group of community members set out to protect the town in the event of a fire and assist the members of the town. Some traditions remains the same, a group of about 25 volunteers are out on the same mission, to protect and serve the family, friends and neighbors of our communities in Lake County.

READY-SET-GO
are your ready

We’ve recently seen how fast fire can spark and spread, sometimes in a matter of seconds. When that happens, you may not have time to think, only time to act.

The real question is: do you have a plan? Do you and your family know exactly what to do, where to go, and how to get out safely? That includes your kids, your pets, and even checking in on elderly neighbors who may need help.

Now is the time to get prepared. Build your go-bags, set your evacuation routes, and make sure everyone in your home understands the plan. Keep important documents, medications, water, and essentials ready to grab and go at a moment’s notice.

Practice it. Talk about it. Refine it. Because when disaster hits, every second counts and preparation can make all the difference.

People often seen Maya, Lakeport Fire’s first Service K9, and many of you know a little about her incredible journey.

Here is a deeper dive into the prison program that helped shape Maya into the incredible dog she is today. Sometimes all it takes is a second chance to change a life, whether it’s a dog or a person.

Lakeport Firefighters with Maya K9 5011 remind you- It’s getting hot out there, and heat kills your pets.

As temperatures rise, remember that our furry friends are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness. Never leave pets in parked vehicles, make sure they have access to fresh water and shade, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day.

A few minutes of prevention can save a life. Keep your pets safe, cool, and comfortable this summer.

⚠️ Heat Advisory for Lake County ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Lake County over the next several days. High temperatures can quickly become dangerous, especially for children, older adults, and pets.

A few important safety tips:

💧 Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid excessive alcohol and sugary drinks.

👶 Watch Children Closely
Children can overheat much faster than adults. Make sure they take frequent breaks, stay in the shade, and drink water often.

👵 Check on Older Adults
Seniors are at greater risk for heat-related illness. Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially those without air conditioning.

🐕 Protect Your Pets
Provide plenty of fresh water and shade. Walk dogs during the early morning or evening hours, and remember: if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

🚗 Never Leave Anyone in a Vehicle
Not children, older adults, or pets. Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can become deadly within minutes.

☀️ Limit Outdoor Activities
Schedule strenuous work and recreation during the cooler parts of the day and take frequent breaks in the shade.

🚨 Know the Warning Signs
Dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, excessive sweating, or lack of sweating can be signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Seek medical attention immediately if symptoms become severe.

Prepare. Hydrate. Stay Safe. Check on your neighbors, loved ones, and four-legged family members during this heat event.

REPOST

A reminder that the fire service is about so much more than fighting fires. From technical rescues and medical emergencies to helping our community on their worst days, we answer the call whenever and wherever we’re needed.

This repost highlights another side of what we do-rescue. We are proude to serve, proud to help, and proud to be part of a profession dedicated to protecting every life.

Repost Lakeport Fire District Duckling Rescue This Morning!

Chief Reitz was en route to Station 50 when he noticed a female duck lingering near a storm drain. Trusting his instincts, he stopped to take a closer look—and sure enough, several ducklings had fallen through the sewer grate and were trapped below.

Firefighters Sean Thomas and Aric Abrams responded, carefully removed the grate, and retrieved each duckling. Once all of the little ones were accounted for, they were reunited with their very relieved mother and safely sent on their way.

A big thank you to our crew for taking the time to help some of our smallest community members, and to Chief Reitz for spotting the situation before it became a tragedy.

Today’s call was a great reminder that public service comes in all shapes and sizes—even the feathered kind. ❤️🚒🦆

If you were there… then you know.

The Lakeport Firefighters pulled out all the stops this year! It was a soaking wet day filled with belly laughs, smiles, and complete chaos at times as everyone tried to duck for cover. From kids to adults, the laughter could be heard all throughout downtown Lakeport.

The Lakeport Volunteer Firefighters are built on generations of family, tradition, and community. That strong bond is what makes this department so special, not only serving to protect our community, but bringing people together and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who came out, supported the parade, and trusted us over the decades. Your support means everything to our firefighters and their families.

As we celebrate this Memorial Day weekend, we also want to take a moment to honor and thank all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. We remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and are forever grateful for the freedoms they protected. 🇺🇸

From all of us at Lakeport Fire, thank you, and have a safe Memorial Day weekend.

Well… the Lakeport Firefighters did it again.

If you came to the parade expecting to stay dry… that was your first mistake.

For decades, the Lakeport Firefighters parade tradition has delivered laughs, soaked spectators, and memories that somehow get funnier every single year. Kids were screaming, adults were running for cover, and somewhere in the crowd someone definitely lost a flip flop in the chaos.

And let’s not forget the balloon fight-or should we say… “ohhh the balloons.” 💥 Between flying water balloons and surprise attacks from every direction, the crowd never stood a chance.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Memorial Day with us. We hope your weekend is filled with family, friends, community pride, and just the right amount of water by firefighters acting like oversized children. 🇺🇸

But in all the laughs, chaos, soaked shirts, and parade fun, let’s not forget the true meaning of Memorial Day. Today is about honoring and remembering the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and the freedoms we enjoy every day.

Take a moment this weekend to reflect, remember, and thank all those who have served our amazing country, especially those who never made it home. 🇺🇸
