Tonight, we mourn the lives of Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and Cameron Davis Capara, who were lost in the tragic shooting at an LGBTQ+ bar in Tucson, Arizona. Our hearts are with their families, friends, and everyone grieving this unimaginable loss.

When violence strikes our community, the pain is felt by all of us. From Polk County to Tucson, we will not let hate win.

Polk Pride is deeply saddened by the passing of Russell Mania Infiniti. 💔

A beloved entertainer and longtime Lakeland resident, Russell had a reputation that rippled across Polk County, Tampa Bay, and throughout the Central Florida LGBTQ+ community. His presence, talent, and love touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love that will not soon be forgotten.

Our hearts are with everyone who knew, loved, and was lucky enough to experience the joy he brought to our community.

📚 As a new school year begins, having access to safe spaces and supportive communities can make all the difference for LGBTQ+ students, as well as the parents, loved ones, and allies who walk alongside them.

🤝 Community makes a difference. It’s where friendships are built, support is found, and people are reminded they’re not alone. It also gives parents, family members, and allies a place to connect and learn more about how they can support the LGBTQ+ people they love.

🌈 In partnership with Lakeland Youth Alliance and PFLAG of Polk County, Polk Pride is proud to help connect our community with three monthly groups built on connection, support, and belonging.

We’re deeply saddened by the tragic attack on Berlin’s Christopher Street Day Pride celebration.

We know too well the kind of pain an act like this can bring to a community. The fear. The grief. The disbelief. The heartbreak that follows when a place meant for celebration, connection, and belonging is met with hate.

But we also know this: those who seek to silence and cast fear over our community will never prevail. Because we’re united by our shared experiences, resilience, courage, and above all, our love for one another. And love will always conquer hate.

Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence, and we stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ family in Berlin.
