The Florida Air Museum, "Florida’s Official Aviation Museum and Education Center” features a dynamic display of the best examples aviation has to offer including one-of-a-kind designs, classics, ultra-lights, antiques and warbirds. But the Museum is more than a collection of airplanes; it is a tribute to the history and joy of flight highlighting pioneers such as Howard Hughes, early air racers, a

nd countless Floridians who have influenced the world of aviation. The Museum also offers a variety of unique year-round educational experiences for all ages including camps, tours, workshops and speaker presentations.

Stuffed Animal Flight School is back! 🧸🧑‍✈️

Here's how to enroll your stuffy in Stuffed Animal Flight School at the Florida Air Museum:
Step 1: Identify which of your stuffed animals has what it takes.
Step 2: You and your stuffed animal attend mandatory orientation (see event details for dates).
Step 3: Leave your stuffed animal with our experienced team of aviation professionals for a rigorous flight training program.
Step 4: Return the following day between 1-3 p.m. to collect your newly winged pilot!

StoryTime was out of this world as we continued the theme of outer space and the moon! 🌖 🚀

Just as a reminder, Summer StoryTime begins on June 15th and 16th and will explore the many “hats” (careers) of aviation with the theme: Hats Off to Aviation. There will be lots of singing, dancing, and stories, so come and join us. Silly hats are encouraged!

2026/2027 STEM Sprouts registration opens on June 1st! 🌱⚛️

STEM Sprouts is an educational enrichment program filled with engaging, hands-on learning for children 3-11 years of age. The calendar runs from September through May. Each week will highlight a new STEM concept and feature engaging learning opportunities with our amazing team of educators.

On National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day, we want to highlight Traviss Technical College's Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Program. ✈️🧰

Classes are offered on the SUN 'n FUN Expo Campus year-round. This program is designed to prepare the student for employment in the commercial and general aviation industry as an Aviation Maintenance Technician with FAA Airframe Rating. 🛠️🛩️

Come experience the Florida Air Museum’s newest program: smART! This is a class dedicated to exploring STEM concepts through the lens of art. 🎨

May’s theme is Snapshot in Time: Anthotypes. We will go back to a time before cameras and printers and learn to create a wonderful negative image of a hot air balloon in the sunshine using beets and turmeric. Participants will also get a close-up look at some of the blueprints, made by a similar process called cyanotype, in the collection of the Florida Air Museum. 🎈

Exciting changes are happening at the Florida Air Museum! ✈️

Construction is continuing here over the next few months. Work will begin in a couple of weeks to close in the Aerospace Pavilion and replace one of the Museum walls with a new glass enclosure. We are committed to providing you with the best possible experience during your time here, but please be patient with us as we make these improvements. There may be some temporary closures and alternate parking needs. Make sure to check the website before your visit for the latest hours and need to know information. We can’t wait for you to see the finished project! 👷🚧

The Aerospace Center for Excellence and the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo are thrilled to endorse a new, specialty license plate that celebrates general aviation. The specialty plate colorfully highlights airplanes and a helicopter with a beautiful Florida backdrop. The new Florida “Support General Aviation” specialty license plate is on sale now via presale vouchers at each Florida County Tax Collectors Office.

Proceeds from the sales will fund a new Florida scholarship program for training future pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics, airport operations, airline and airport management personnel, aeronautical engineers, aviation meteorologists, aircraft and spacecraft manufacturers and other career positions related to aviation. These scholarship opportunities will help sustain the pipeline of aviation professionals.

Today, we took a trip to the moon during StoryTime! 🚀👨‍🚀🌕

Ms. Bethanie shared a fun story all about moon rocks, and everyone got to take their very own moon rock home! We also enjoyed lots of hands-on activities that made this special edition of StoryTime out of this world. Join us next week for StoryTime on Tuesday, May 26 at 10 AM at the Florida Air Museum! 📚🐛
