🇺🇸 What does Flag Day mean to you?

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who took time yesterday—on a Sunday, in the heat—to place the American flags all along Lake Isabella Boulevard for Flag Day, June 14th.

Because Flag Day means something to you… and to this community.

As one volunteer put it:

“I do it because it’s what makes our community a better place. People volunteer less these days. It makes a difference.”

Thank you all for your time, effort, and commitment to keeping this tradition alive.

📌 Next Flag Display: Independence Day! 🇺🇸

If you were in Lake Isabella this past Monday for Memorial Day, you no doubt saw the stunning display of nearly 400 American flags lining both sides of Lake Isabella Boulevard. 🇺🇸

The display is part of the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce’s “Flags Along the Boulevard” program, which honors our nation and community on eight national holidays each year.

What many people may not realize is that every single flag is placed, collected, stored, and cared for by volunteers. These displays simply would not happen without the generous individuals who give their time and energy to serve our valley.

Pictured below are just some of the volunteers hard at work setting up and collecting the flags, including a team organized by John Yasin, Fred and Hunter Clark, Danny Kelley, Danal Pitts, Claire Hartley, and Liz Mendia.

To all of our volunteers — thank you for helping create one of the Kern River Valley’s most meaningful and patriotic traditions.

🇺🇸 The next flag display will be for National Flag Day on Sunday, June 14th.

If you would like to volunteer or learn more about the program, please contact the Chamber or visit:
