Remember Cosmo and Spencer? The community asked us to step in to help them and we did! Cosmo has had 2 vet appointments. At the 1st appt his ear canals were too infected and swollen to see inside. He was sent home with 4 meds, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling. Today, he went to his 2nd appt. The meds did their job, the swelling is gone, enough that Dr Vicki removed 7 foxtails; 4 from one ear, 3 from the other! Kernville Vet no longer accepts multiple payments, so Ive paid both bills myself. We all just want Cosmo (now Gizmo) to have the healthy, happy life every dog deserves

HOT DOG LAW
California law says a person can step in and help remove the dog from the vehicle and will “not be criminally liable for actions taken reasonably and in good faith.”

If a person has “good faith belief,” it is legal for them to “forcibly enter the vehicle,” but they would need to do so after they do the following:

If you're at a store or event, ask them to announce over the PA system

Determine the vehicle is locked and there is no other reasonable manner to remove the animal from inside the vehicle

Have good faith that forcible entry is necessary if the animal is in danger or suffering harm inside the vehicle

Call 911 before “forcibly entering the vehicle”

Remain with the pet in a safe location, but reasonably close to the vehicle until an officer arrives

Use no more force to enter the vehicle and remove the animal than necessary under the circumstances

Immediately turn the animal over to law enforcement, animal control or the shelter
