We provide pet support services to the Kern Valley's residents, as well as, care for our sanctuary animals.

Kern Valley Rescue compiles and distributes current pet resource information and coordinates various programs, including:

Kern Valley Rescue Paw Patrol is our network of volunteers that assist lost and found pets on social media and in their neighborhoods.

Seniors for Seniors program matches senior adopters with senior pets needing homes.

Emergency Food Pantry provides pet food to help keep pets in their homes instead of being dumped.

KRV Snip N Tip feral cat program provides trapping, spay/neuter, vaccinating and release to prevent feral cat overpopulation.

Our Kern Valley Lost and Found Pets and Kern Valley Pet Adoption pages help reunite the lost and found quickly and to assist re-homing when needed.

Our overall purpose is to help Kern Valley's pets and their owners in whatever way they need to keep pets in their homes, out of the Kern Valley Animal Shelter and to help those in the shelter get adopted.

Kern Valley Rescue is a Pet Support Service organization. Your contributions go towards emergency pet food, spay/neuter, vaccinations, licenses, microchips, transportation, hospice, reuniting lost/found dogs with their owners and our sanctuary animals feed and care.

HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY !!!!!!!
Aug. 26 is National Dog Day, a celebration of man's (and woman's) best friend. Founded in 2004, National Dog Day is intended to be an observance to both honor your pets and remember how many dogs still need to be rescued.
SOME WAYS TO CELEBRATE !
1. Adopt a dog from your local shelter or Kern Valley Pet Adoption
2. Donate food, treats, toys and blankets to your local shelter
3. Safety check your home and yard to make sure it's safe and secure for your dog
4. Assist an ill or elderly neighbor with their dogs.
5. Buy your dog a fun new dog toy...or two...or five.
6. Brush your dog, clip their nails, clean their ears and check for foxtails
7. Give your dog a massage
8. Teach you dog a new trick

Today is national CHECK THE CHIP day. Please make sure the information on your pet's microchip is current.

If you have a pet that needs a microchip, they are $15 at the Kern Valley Animal Shelter, 14891 Hwy 178, Southlake. No appointment needed, walk-in anytime Monday-Saturday 10:00-4:00

Remember Cosmo and Spencer? The community asked us to step in to help them and we did! Cosmo has had 2 vet appointments. At the 1st appt his ear canals were too infected and swollen to see inside. He was sent home with 4 meds, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling. Today, he went to his 2nd appt. The meds did their job, the swelling is gone, enough that Dr Vicki removed 7 foxtails; 4 from one ear, 3 from the other! Kernville Vet no longer accepts multiple payments, so Ive paid both bills myself. We all just want Cosmo (now Gizmo) to have the healthy, happy life every dog deserves

HOT DOG LAW
California law says a person can step in and help remove the dog from the vehicle and will “not be criminally liable for actions taken reasonably and in good faith.”

If a person has “good faith belief,” it is legal for them to “forcibly enter the vehicle,” but they would need to do so after they do the following:

If you're at a store or event, ask them to announce over the PA system

Determine the vehicle is locked and there is no other reasonable manner to remove the animal from inside the vehicle

Have good faith that forcible entry is necessary if the animal is in danger or suffering harm inside the vehicle

Call 911 before “forcibly entering the vehicle”

Remain with the pet in a safe location, but reasonably close to the vehicle until an officer arrives

Use no more force to enter the vehicle and remove the animal than necessary under the circumstances

Immediately turn the animal over to law enforcement, animal control or the shelter
