What does a liberal arts education look like in action? Just ask Sullivan Davis ’14!

As Director of Operations at The Hideout, one of Chicago’s most intimate and distinctive live music venues, Sullivan draws on his liberal arts perspective to help identify and book emerging musical talent.

Professor Dave Park recently brought a group of Forester students to The Hideout for a special visit with Sullivan, offering students an inside look at the live music industry and how a liberal arts education informs his work.

Thank you, Sullivan and Professor Park, for creating this immersive learning experience and showing our students how a Forester education opens doors for truly interesting careers.

Go Foresters! 🌳🎶

There are stories that remind us why the Lake Forest College alumni community is so special and this is one of them:

Meet Enrique (Enjo) Salonga '22 and Jeff Synder '97. Jeff mentored Enjo when he was a student at the College. He was notorious for sending Enjo weekly post cards with life lessons on them once a week. This week, Enjo and Jeff got to meet each other for the first time in Philadelphia over lunch (ironically enough on Jeff's birthday!).

As authentic connections become more and more meaningful in present day, it's beautiful to see how the Forester community extends far beyond campus and that the relationships formed here can last a lifetime. 🌳❤️

The official photos are in and it has been wonderful to see the evolution of programming that brought our 2026 Homecoming & Reunion weekend to life!

From reconnecting with classmates and exploring new events such as the State of the College, to celebrating athletic championship reunions, Psychology Department reunion, and the new stunning class milestone reunion celebration at the Krebs Center for Humanities, this year’s weekend was a wonderful reminder of the lifelong connections that make our Lake Forest College community so special. We invite you to take a look at all the action: https://bit.ly/4ysdYOy

And excited to report that the celebration isn’t quite over! Our Alumni Art Exhibit In Transit, is open through early November. Come back to campus and enjoy the incredible works in suitcases created by your fellow Foresters!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s Homecoming so memorable. We can't wait to see you back for Homecoming & Reunion on October 8-9, 2027!

Many Forester alumni may remember chemistry professor William Martin, a legend at the College who taught thousands of students and mentored generations of faculty over five decades. In his honor, Professor Martin's wife, Dr. Yvonne Martin, has made a transformational $7 million gift to the College's Department of Chemistry, which will strengthen the department through the creation of an endowed professorship and several funds supporting lab equipment, student research, and scholarships.
