It’s hard enough trying to survive on the streets—searching for food, shelter, and safety every single day.

But living in a condition like this as an unaltered male… the pain, the itching, the discomfort must have been unimaginable. 💔

You deserved better. You deserved help long before you reached this point.

I’m sorry society failed you, buddy. You don’t have to hurt anymore. Your life mattered.💙

You didn’t think we took a break today, did you?

Well… take another ride with me. 🐾

As we worked to change the lives of a few lucky ones today, we also had to make the heartbreaking decision to end the suffering of another. Thank you North Florida Animal Rescue 🌈

That’s rescue.

The ups and downs. The wins and the losses. The happy tears and the heartbreak. One minute you’re celebrating a life saved, and the next you’re holding back tears while making the kindest decision possible for one who has suffered enough.

There isn’t always a happy ending, but there is always compassion. There is always love. And sometimes, the greatest act of love is simply making sure they don’t suffer anymore.

We keep going because there are still lives waiting for us. ❤️🐾

🌧️ TRAP NIGHT

After a long day of 911 kitty calls, we’re still out here trapping. It’s never-ending… and the rain isn’t stopping us from getting things done.

When our community cries for help, we listen. We may be tired, we may be stretched thin, and some days may feel overwhelming—but we dig deeper, wipe away the tears, hold our heads high, and keep going.

Because there are lives to save. ❤️🐾

Did we mention we are over CAPACITY?

Yet Another Fabulous Day Here at The Ranch Rescue! 🐾

We were notified by Columbia County Animal Enforcement that a gentleman had discovered two cats dumped on his property.

He did everything he could to find help, safely kept the two kitties contained in a box, and then brought them to us.

Even though our intake is currently closed, we simply couldn’t leave these two stranded. With dogs on the property, it wasn’t a safe situation for the cats, and they needed somewhere safe to go.

So here they are—safe, cared for, and now part of the Ranch Rescue family. 🐱🐱❤️

A huge THANK YOU to Columbia County Animal Enforcement for reaching out and helping connect these cats with us.

And an even bigger thank you to the gentleman who found them. You did the right thing. You didn’t turn your back, you kept them safe, and you made sure they got help.

This is what community looks like. It takes all of us working together to make a difference. ❤️🐾

📍VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — ANYTHING HELPS!

We are looking for a handful of volunteers who are willing to give a little of their time to help a gentleman who simply needs some extra hands right now. ❤️

The goal is to help clean up and organize the home, especially getting items picked up from the floors so he can safely move around his home.

A few things to know:

🧤 Cleaning supplies will be provided
🧤 Gloves will be provided
🐱 Must be comfortable working around cats
⚠️ Must be able to tolerate a very strong urine odor
💪 No special skills are needed—just a willingness to help

You don’t have to spend all day. A couple of hours, an extra set of hands, or even helping with one small area can make a tremendous difference.

This is what rescue and community are about—showing up when someone needs a little help.

As Monday evening comes to a close, another call comes in. 💔

This sweet mama was first reported on Friday. The woman who found her called our local shelter 🤦‍♀️, hoping they could help with a large pregnant female who was hanging around her workplace. She was told they could not assist.

She then reached out to another rescue and here is the ACTUAL RESPONSE VERBATIM

“Because it's a Lake City cat the only place I can recommend is the Ranch Rescue”

‼️We cannot count how many non Columbia County kitties we have assisted, so reading this response is very sad news and was not expected.

‼️Fast-forward to today.

This friendly mama had given birth to four tiny kittens underneath an air-conditioning unit at a medical building. 😢

After an already long day, we showed up. We couldn’t walk away.

We removed this incredibly friendly mama and her four babies and brought them to safety. We have no idea how this friendly girl ended up there, but it certainly appears she may have been dumped.

The hard truth? We had no business taking in another rescue. We are far beyond capacity. Our foster homes are full. Our resources are stretched. Our days are already overflowing.

But when we saw this mama and those four babies, we couldn’t leave them behind.

Now we need YOU.

❤️ We desperately need a foster home for this family.
A quiet, safe place for mama to raise her babies until they are old enough for adoption.

There is no magic number of people needed to save an animal. Sometimes it is simply one person willing to open a door.

Monday evenings look a little different around The Ranch Rescue. There's no clocking out, no we deal with it tomorrow. There are animals waiting, calls to return, places to go, and lives that depend on someone showing up.
So come along for the ride and see a little glimpse of what a Monday evening in rescue looks like.
We have a crisis here in Lake City/Columbia County.
This is what NO TNR PROGRAMS LOOK LIKE, and a shelter who refuses to be a part of a solution. Damn shame!
