Our Next Up Columbia members had a great afternoon hearing from Chip Parker, Lead Pastor at The Orchard Community Church, about workplace culture. Chip shared insights on what culture is, what can shape it, and how we can position ourselves as leaders who foster a healthy workplace environment.

The conversation gave our members a chance to reflect on how their leadership can influence the culture around them and the impact intentional leadership can have in the workplace.

Last week, our Next Up Columbia members had the opportunity to volunteer at Columbia County Senior Services, Inc.!

Columbia County Senior Services helps adults 60+ maintain their well-being while supporting their independence and quality of life. During the visit, Next Up Columbia members spent time helping local seniors with technology questions and providing hands-on assistance with their devices. It was a great opportunity to give back, connect with our community, and make a positive impact!

Before you head to the polls today, take a few minutes to hear directly from the candidates.

The 2026 Chamber Candidate Questionnaire features responses from candidates for Lake City City Council, Town of Fort White Council, Columbia County School Board, and Columbia County Commission.

Every qualified candidate was invited to answer the same questions developed by a committee convened by the Chamber. All responses are published exactly as submitted—without edits or alterations—to provide voters with a nonpartisan resource as they make their decisions.

The first session of Leadership Lake City 2026–2027, presented by Servpro of Columbia & Suwannee Counties, is in the books! 🌟

The day kicked off with presentations from Don Rosenthal with the City of Lake City and David Kraus with Columbia County, Florida, who highlighted the city’s five-year strategic plan and the importance of strong infrastructure in our community.

Next, the group visited Clay Electric Co-op, where they learned more about the company’s history, the communities they serve, and electrical safety through an interactive demonstration using a working model of buildings and electrical systems. ⚡

The day wrapped up at the Columbia County Courthouse, where Clerk of Court Jay Swisher shared the history of the courthouse and gave the class a behind-the-scenes look at a live court proceeding. Property Appraiser Jeff Hampton and Tax Collector Kyle Keen also joined the group to share more about their offices and how they serve our community.

It was an engaging first session filled with valuable insights, new connections, and behind-the-scenes access to the people and organizations that help shape Columbia County!
