It’s almost November, which means it’s time to go BLUE for Children’s Grief Awareness Month!

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing Blue Pics from people and organizations across Acadiana who are showing their support for children who are grieving.

Want to be part of it? Send us your Blue Pics so we can share them, too! Every photo helps spread awareness and reminds children and families that our community cares.

One caring adult can change the world of a child who is grieving. Together, let’s Be the Hope. 💙

Grief can feel isolating, especially when it seems like everyone else is moving through life as usual.

Our Young Adult Grief Support Group offers a space to connect with others who understand what it’s like to grieve a death. Through conversation, activities, and shared experiences, young adults can show up as they are and know they aren’t alone.

Our group meets in person tonight at Healing House from 6–7:30 PM.

If you or someone you know could use this kind of support, we’re here. No one should have to grieve alone.

A big thank you to the Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the Lela for donating paper goods and supplies for our coping kits!

These everyday essentials help us keep things running and make sure we have resources available for the children and families we serve. We’re so grateful for community partners who support our work in so many different ways! 💙

Grief can be hard to explain to people who haven’t experienced it. Sometimes it helps to connect with people who just get it.

Our Young Adult Grief Support Group meets virtually tonight at 6 PM and is open to any adult in Louisiana who is grieving the death of someone important to them.

You don’t have to have the right words or know what to say. You’re welcome to show up just as you are.

Double trouble! 😂 We’re celebrating TWO Above & Beyond Award winners in one post, and we couldn’t be happier to recognize Becky and MG as our September and October winners!

✨ Becky brings so much personality, compassion, and heart to Healing House. From singing Hamilton with the kids to encouraging them to listen to one another, she has a special way of making each child feel seen and supported. She’s also always willing to lend a hand wherever she’s needed!

💫 MG brings creativity, patience, and genuine care to every group. Whether she’s creating imaginative stories with dinosaurs in the sandtray or listening closely as a child shares their latest art project, she makes time for every child and helps create a space where everyone feels included.

We’re so grateful for Becky and MG and the love they share with the children we serve. Thank you both for going above and beyond!

October is a time to acknowledge the many families who have experienced the death of a baby and to make space for the grief that can follow.

At Healing House, we know that grief can affect every member of a family, including children. A baby’s death can become part of a child’s story, even when they were too young to fully understand what happened.

We’re grateful for the local organizations that support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss in different ways. This month, we’re highlighting Aylee's Angels, a local nonprofit providing resources and support to families after the death of a baby.

We have Aylee’s Angels brochures and hand-painted angel rocks in our grief resource library, and we’re grateful to have their work as a resource we can share with our community.

We encourage you to follow Aylee’s Angels, learn more about their work, and support the important care they provide to families in Acadiana. 💙
