National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO)

Recently, at the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Conference in Dallas, Texas, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office was recognized for their School Resource Officer (SRO) Program. Since 2018, Sheriff Mark Garber and the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office have collaborated with the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) to enhance the security of students and faculty throughout the parish. Now, the best practices and protocols of the program are getting national recognition.

At the NASRO Conference this summer, Lafayette was recognized as a model district in proactive school safety. Sheriff’s Office Administrators, alongside LPSS staff, attended the conference where they gave a detailed presentation to the attendees highlighting the SRO program’s layered safety measures, standardized protocols, and unmatched collaboration between the school system and law enforcement.

The Lafayette Parish SRO program has grown to include more than 50 Lafayette Parish deputies, ensuring every board-operated school in the parish is staffed with a qualified school resource officer. Sheriff Garber has also worked closely with the school board to develop officer training strategies as well as a set of comprehensive rules and regulations that all school resource officers follow.

Not Louisiana, but posting to help a fundraiser for fallen officer in Florida.

Good afternoon,

Macks Designs has generously donated their time and talent to create a charity challenge coin in honor of Lieutenant Eloilda “Ellie” Padilla Shea, a beloved member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (FL) who tragically lost her life in October 2024. Her estranged husband, a former law enforcement officer, has been charged in connection with her death. This coin is a meaningful way for us to pay tribute to Ellie’s life and service — and to support what meant the most to her: her two young daughters.

This is a 3.25 INCH coin with intricate 3D DETAILS and will have a HEAVY FEEL in your hand. The coin’s foundation is a white Conch shell, on a sandy Florida beach. The shell is white to signify the goodness and purity that Ellie represented in life – and leaves behind in her beautiful daughters.

Side A shows Ellie’s daughters sitting on the beach waving to Ellie, who is depicted in heavenly clouds waving back to her daughters to let them know that she is watching over them.

Side B shows Ellie’s badge (starfish) in the ocean with colorful coral surrounding the starfish. The coral represents her friends and family that grieve her loss but take comfort in her memory. The footprint and her badge number in the sand represent the legacy she leaves behind and signal that she will never be forgotten.

All proceeds from this sale of this special coin will benefit Ellie’s two young daughters, who now face a lifetime without their mom.

This is a pre-sale for the coin and will be made to order. Cost of the coin will be $40.00 each.

Shipping with tracking is not included in this cost, please add shipping cost to the total cost of the coins purchased as follows:

$10.00 1-4 coins
$18.00 for 5+ coins
(10+ coin orders will require an additional insurance and will be quoted upon order confirmation)
There is also an option for local pick up

Coin production should take about two to three months depending on the size of the fundraising order. The goal is to have the coins before Ellie’s birthday on October 29.

A week ago today, officers in Rayne, Louisiana were executing a search warrant in an attempt to locate a suspect wanted for a recent stabbing. During that incident, Rayne Police Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur was inadvertently shot by another officer on scene. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Lt. Credeur did not survive his wounds.

48-year old Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur began his career in law enforcement as a reserve officer with the Rayne Police Department in December 2003 and went full-time in 2005. Over the past two decades, he became a pillar of his agency and in the City of Rayne. In 2014, he took on the role of D.A.R.E. officer, dedicating himself to educating and mentoring the youth of his community. He also spent countless hours over the years volunteering with local youth athletics-coaching, mentoring, and leading by example both on and off duty. Noochie enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and just being out on the water. He was a truck driver, an equipment operator, he had a love for farming. He loved Sundays and cooking for his family, and he was known for his stories. He never met a stranger; he had a smile and a laugh like no one else.

Noochie was more than an officer; he was a brother, a friend, and a role model. He served with pride, humility, and an unmatched sense of duty. He had a special way of connecting with people-especially young people-and was truly invested in making Rayne a safer, stronger place to live. Lieutenant Credeur’s funeral services were held this afternoon.

With deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, the Rayne Police Department announces the tragic loss of Lieutenant Allen “Noochie” Credeur, age 48, who was killed in the line of duty on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 1:27 PM while executing a search warrant related to a violent crime.

During the operation, officers were attempting to locate a suspect in a recent stabbing incident. Lt. Credeur was struck by friendly fire and, despite immediate medical attention, succumbed to his injuries on the scene. This devastating accident has shaken the entire department and community.

Lt. Credeur began his career in law enforcement as a reserve officer with the Rayne Police Department in December 2003 and went full-time in 2005. Over the past two decades, he became a pillar of this agency and of the City of Rayne. In 2014, he took on the role of D.A.R.E. officer, dedicating himself to educating and mentoring the youth of our community. He also spent countless hours over the years volunteering with local youth athletics—coaching, mentoring, and leading by example both on and off duty.

We ask that the public keep his family, especially his fiancé Danielle Demette, his brother Sgt. Joseph Credeur, his colleagues, and officers in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

An investigation is underway, and we are cooperating with LSP to fully examine the circumstances of this tragic event.

Details regarding funeral arrangements and memorial services will be provided as soon as they are finalized.

Lt. Credeur’s legacy of service, compassion, and leadership will never be forgotten. He gave this city everything he had—and we are forever grateful.

There’s no manual for this part of the job.

Today, May 5th, 2025, Officer “Noochie” Credeur of the Rayne Police Department was killed in the line of duty. No matter the uniform or the patch, when one of us falls, we all feel it—but for those who knew Noochie personally, this grief cuts deeper than words can touch.

Even for those of us who didn’t know him closely, the weight of this loss is felt deeply. It’s clear from the outpouring of love that Noochie made a lasting impact on everyone who had the honor of serving beside him or being protected by him. His presence in the community and the department won’t be forgotten.

Please keep his family, his closest friends, and his Rayne PD brothers and sisters in your prayers. This loss belongs to them most of all. To a hometown and a department now carrying a hole that can never be filled—our hearts are with you.

Rest easy, Noochie.
End of Watch: May 5th, 2025.
We’ll hold the line for you.
