A little Labor Day weekend labor at Leigh Creekside Park.

Friday, our crew planed, sanded and painted the tables and benches, one piece of our larger effort with the City of Lafayette to restore the park and Las Trampas Creek.

You knocked it out of the park, team!

Now if only we could find those three missing bolts... 🔩😄

What happens when you bring together a group of people and ask a simple question: What’s a problem you’d like to help solve?

That was the starting point for a lively Saturday morning of conversation, reflection and idea-sharing. Jim Marggraff led us through a series of exercises designed to help turn things we care about into something we might actually do.

Thanks to Jim for leading the conversation, and to Western Flyer Brewing for giving us such a great place to gather.

Sometimes community involvement starts with nothing more complicated than getting a few people together and asking the right question.

For nearly 30 years, members of our club have traveled to Guatemala in partnership with Common Hope to build homes for families and sponsor students whose lives have been transformed through education. Thanks to this support, Common Hope students graduate from high school at rates more than three times the national average, creating opportunities that uplift not only the student, but entire families and communities.

This January, we are returning to Guatemala, and we invite you to join one of two Vision Teams made up of Rotarians and friends from five Rotary clubs. You will see firsthand the extraordinary impact that education, safe housing, and hope can have on a family’s future — and you will come home inspired by the resilience, warmth, and determination of the people you meet. Peace Pickets are now on display at the Moraga Library!

Created by local middle school students as part of Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary’s Peace Through Art project, these colorful pickets share simple messages of kindness, hope, and peace.

Stop by the Moraga Library to see the rotating exhibit and enjoy this uplifting reminder that peace begins in our own community.

With Project Hail Mary making its way to theaters, we’re remembering a kind gesture from author Andy Weir. Although a last-minute meeting-location mix-up prevented his Rotary club appearance, Andy still took time to meet with our program chair and sign books for us. Our members later purchased those signed books, and the proceeds went to support some great charitable causes.

What a class act!
