We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Lamorinda Village’s 11th Anniversary Luncheon on Friday, April 17th.

Held at LOPC and thoughtfully organized by the Lamorinda Auxiliary, guests enjoyed a delightful tea-inspired menu featuring tea sandwiches and salad from Town Bakery & Café in Moraga, along with beautiful desserts.

We were especially honored to celebrate our Founder, Ruth McCahan, whose vision continues to bring our community together.

Thank you to all who joined us in marking this meaningful milestone!

Grateful for a beautiful month of Friendsgivings 💛🍂
We celebrated 4 gatherings in November for our members, including our Living Solo and Stronger Memory groups.
Huge thanks to NCL for donating delicious desserts and salads for Friendsgivings at Chateau Lafayette and Belle Terre. Thank you .foods for catering. Thank you to our amazing Auxiliary and volunteers for serving with heart.

Big news!

It all started when our enthusiastic SWELL seniors brought up line dancing, so we looked up a free class, but they were too excited to wait! A quick YouTube search turned into an impromptu lesson right here at SWELL 💃🕺 In June, they took their new moves to a real class at Bourbon Highway in Walnut Creek and had a blast. Now, there’s talk of starting regular classes, and possibly even teaming up with Student SWELL later this year! Pictured above are our amazing seniors showing off their skills in a spontaneous dance session!

Lamorinda Village members had a blast at our flower arranging class with the amazing Laura-Kate Rurka! 💐

Using everyday supermarket flowers, members learned how to create beautiful, budget-friendly arrangements, and took home their own arrangements and a fresh dose of summer joy.

Huge thanks to Laura-Kate for leading such a fun and creative activity. We love seeing our community come together for hands-on, seasonal fun!

Happy 4th & Happy 40th, Orinda! 🇺🇸🎉

As we celebrated our nation’s birthday, we also marked 40 years since Orinda became a city—and honored the leaders who made it happen.

One of those leaders is Joyce Hawkins, a founding force behind Orinda’s incorporation and a former Mayor. Joyce later brought that same community spirit to Lamorinda Village, helping launch the Village and serving three terms on our Board.

We’re proud to celebrate her legacy of leadership, service, and connection—still going strong in this year’s parade! 💙❤️🤍

Meet Lamorinda Village’s summer interns, Ella Hack and Paul Kuhner!

Ella Hack is serving as our Social Media Intern, managing our Instagram page and creating content to highlight events, programs, and community connections.

Paul Kuhner is our Service Coordinator Intern, supporting member services and daily operations to further our mission of helping older adults stay active, independent, and socially connected.

We’re thrilled to have these two talented individuals on board this summer!

We had a fantastic time at the Fourth Bore in Orinda for Don’s Golden Happy Hour! ☀️🍷 These monthly Happy Hours are one of our most popular events. We had fun socializing, enjoying drinks and snacks, and soaking up the sunshine in the beautiful courtyard.

A big thank you to The Fourth Bore for hosting such a lovely event—we have truly appreciated your generosity and warm welcome through the years! 💛

Lamorinda Village members gathered for a relaxing and revitalizing Chair Yoga session led by the wonderful Barbara Papini! With gentle stretches and mindful movement, we focused on building flexibility, strength, and balance — all from the comfort of a chair. 🌿🧘‍♀️
