It is with both gratitude and sadness that we announce that Isabel Rurka—affectionately known as “Everyone’s Favorite”—will be leaving Lamorinda Village to complete her master’s degree. Since joining our team, Isabel has brightened Lamorinda Village with her warm smile, kindness, and genuine care for others. She is an outstanding employee, but what many of us will remember most is how approachable, welcoming, and generous she was with her time and attention.

We are excited for this next chapter and all that lies ahead for her, but we will miss her greatly. We know Isabel will accomplish wonderful things, and she will always remain a cherished part of the Lamorinda Village family. 💛

One of the highlights of SWELL and AARD this month has been the growing popularity of Mah Jong. What began as a small gathering has quickly expanded. Beyond the fun of the game itself, Mah Jong offers valuable cognitive benefits by engaging memory, concentration, and strategic thinking. Just as important, it creates opportunities for social connection and friendship. As research continues to show, staying socially engaged is one of the most important factors in healthy aging, and our bustling Mah Jong tables are a wonderful example of community, connection, and lifelong learning in action.

We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Lamorinda Village’s 11th Anniversary Luncheon on Friday, April 17th.

Held at LOPC and thoughtfully organized by the Lamorinda Auxiliary, guests enjoyed a delightful tea-inspired menu featuring tea sandwiches and salad from Town Bakery & Café in Moraga, along with beautiful desserts.

We were especially honored to celebrate our Founder, Ruth McCahan, whose vision continues to bring our community together.

Thank you to all who joined us in marking this meaningful milestone!
