Dear supporters, fruit donors, and volunteers:

Effective September 2021, due to the cost of insurance, The Urban Farmers has suspended all harvest operations.

At this time, securing insurance for such work far exceeds the value of the fruit we can harvest. However, there are other benefits to the work that we have done together, such as community development, reducing waste, and education/community engagement for students. We are working with a large, local institution that can provide the necessary infrastructure, including insurance, for our work. If the negotiation succeeds, we will be back in operation by early to mid-2022.

Fruit Donors: At this time, we are not aware of any organization that can come to your home to harvest your fruit. You can donate any fruit that you can harvest to your local hunger relief organizations such as The Food Bank or White Poney Express.

Shout out and Thanks to Lafayette Car Wash and Detail Center for getting our van all nice and clean before it gets its new paint job. Thanks for supporting our efforts by giving us a great deal.

This amazing group of volunteers arrived on short notice to help us glean from a wonderful apricot orchard. We harvested 3390 pounds in less than 3 hours with 28 volunteers!

Thank you to White Pony Express for picking up the first load of Apricots from the harvest to distribute to the Food Banks in Contra Costa County!

Awesome weekend harvesting Cherries at Mike's U-Pick Cherry Orchard in Brentwood. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and to Mike and Jami for allowing us to harvest 2940 pounds of Cherries to feed the hungry!

We donated cherries to Hope House, White Pony Express, Monument Crisis Center and Project Open Hand.
