Future careers start in today's classrooms—and One Acadiana is strengthening the connection. 🤝

During the 2026 1A ConnectEd Summer Educator Workshop, K-12 teachers, counselors, and school leaders from across the region learned from local industry leaders, explored career pathways, and discovered new ways to help students see what's possible after graduation.

From engaging discussions and employer panels to immersive site visits at South Louisiana Community College, Our Lady of Lourdes Health, and CGI, participants left equipped with new tools and ideas to guide students to a successful future right here in Acadiana. 💡

A special thank you to our presenters, partners, hosts, and educators for making this year's workshop a success. Together, we're strengthening the connection between industry and education and preparing the next generation for meaningful careers in our region!

EXPANSION ANNOUNCEMENT 📢

Gulf Coast Tactical announced it will invest $6.1 million in Iberia Parish to expand production of unmanned surface vehicles, patrol craft and other maritime platforms used in security operations, reinforcing Acadiana's growing role in the nation's defense economy. ⚙️

The company is expected to create 65 direct new jobs with an average annual salary of $80,000, which is 40% above the average Iberia Parish wage, while retaining 16 current positions. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will result in an additional 72 indirect new jobs, for a total of 137 potential new job opportunities in our region. 📍

One Acadiana is committed to supporting companies that choose to grow right here at home, and we proudly celebrate this win alongside our partners at the Iberia Industrial Development Foundation. 👏

An exciting step forward for Acadiana's manufacturing workforce! 📢

One Acadiana has been awarded a prestigious FAME Catalyst Grant from The Manufacturing Institute—one of only SIX organizations nationwide selected to launch a new chapter of the nationally recognized Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) program. ⚙️

What does this mean? 💡
One Acadiana will establish a FAME chapter for our region, offering earn-and-learn apprenticeship programs to train the next generation of manufacturing talent. Students will work with a local manufacturer while attending classes through our community college partner, South Louisiana Community College. Graduates earn an associate degree with little to no student debt and are well-positioned for full-time careers in advanced manufacturing. 🛠️

Early voting kicks off today, June 12. Election day is Saturday, June 27. 📅

The ballot features the runoff for Louisiana’s U.S. Senate primaries. The winner of each party’s runoff advances to the November 3 general election.

Important to note:
👉 Louisiana’s closed party primary system continues for the June 27 runoff. You must vote in the same party’s runoff as the primary you participated in on May 16.

👉 Louisiana’s U.S. House races have been cancelled for the spring cycle and moved to the fall open primary, following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the state’s congressional map.
