NO MORE LIMITS: The Chattahoochee Area Tennis Association memorialized the late Grayson Gilliam, a Limitless Tennis participant who passed away earlier this year.
“I want to thank y'all for accepting my child as he was because not a lot of people would. But it meant a lot to see this community come together for all these kids out here because they need a place to go and to have fun, where they won't be judged, and they can act themselves,” said Grayson’s mother, Katherine Wingate.
Wingate said she was so scared when she had Grayson at 19 years old. “I was so scared because I didn't know what I was going to do with a special needs child, but I had my village. I had my family, and I had all of y'all,” Wingate said.
Wingate said there were few things for Grayson to be able to participate in as a special needs child. She said she did tennis throughout high school, so it was extra special for Grayson to be able to enjoy it, too. She said she came by the tennis center and learned about Limitless Tennis, and he took to it quickly.
“It made me feel good that he had something to do. There were other kids just like him, and it just made me feel good as a parent to know that my child was going to be included in something where no one is judging him. He didn't even have to play. He was just enjoying the moment,” Wingate said.
Limitless Tennis honored late participant Grayson Gilliam with a banner at McCluskey Tennis Center as its third adaptive tennis season closed in LaGrange.
