The primary purpose of the LJSA is to provide a community forum for matters affecting the La Jolla Shores Planned District, and to advise the San Diego City Council, Park and Recreation Department, and other governmental agencies as may be appropriate for the best interest of its residents and the millions of visitors that come to our community each year. It is involved in a wide range of projects
including:
o Proposing and supporting projects for Neighborhood Protection and Beautification
o Monitoring, enforcing, and representing the community's interests in the Planned District Ordinance (Appoints members of LJ Shores Permit Review Committee)
o Monitoring, preserving, and enhancing our parks, beaches, and shoreline
o Traffic & Transportation project and issue review and recommendation
o Protecting and improving the La Jolla Shores retail business district
o Preserving and enhancing the local environment of La Jolla Shores
o Providing recommendations to the City Park & Recreation Dept regarding all parks and public recreation facilities within our boundaries including La Jolla Shores, Kellogg Park, Laureate Park, Cliffridge Park, and Allen Field
o Serving as liaison with other organizations and government representatives and as advocate for community interests before the City Planning Commission,the San Diego City Council, and other government agencies
o Coordination with the La Jolla Town Council, the La Jolla Community Planning Association, and other civic organizations
o Conducting forums on community issues
o Assisting the Friends of La Jolla Shores – a non-profit public benefit corporation responsible for building and maintaining “The Map”®, the Children’s Playground at La Jolla Shores, JJ the WhaleTM statue and sunshade, and other projects
