At 45 years old, Job has spent much of his life working hard as an ironworker. He is strong, determined, and knows the value of a hard day’s work. But there is one area where he has faced a lifelong challenge: reading.
Job only attended school through the second grade. While he recognizes some numbers, letters have always been difficult for him. Now, through the Geriatric Program, Job has an opportunity to build skills he never had the chance to develop as a child. He is especially excited to learn the sounds of each letter. His goal may seem simple to some, but for Job, it is deeply meaningful. He wants to learn how to spell his own name correctly.
