The 2026 General Election is fast approaching, just 22 days until November 3rd. Offices on the ballot will be: TN Governor, US Senate, United States House of Representatives - District 2, Tennessee Senate - District 5 and 7, and Tennessee House of Representatives - Districts 14, 15, 16, 18, 89, 90. Have you seen the City’s freshly updated website? Knoxvilletn.gov’s home page is more user friendly with icons front and center for commonly sought info links. One of those easy access links is for 311. Russ Jensen, Director of 311 and 211, spoke at our September community meeting about his work for the city. 311 covers all of the city of Knoxville, while 211 services covers 24 counties in East Tennessee. Knoxville is one of the first few cities to start 311 services, starting on May 5, 2005. Knoxville is unique in that Knoxville is the only municipality responsible directly for both 311 and 211 programs. To learn more about services provided, go to Knoxvilletn.gov and click on the 311.

Over the summer, THE's Ecology Committee members recruited 5 local East Knoxville businesses to take part in our anti-litter initiative, called "5 on Fridays." Each business was asked to spend 5 minutes each Friday cleaning up litter around their storefront. We are so greatful to those that said yes and have already helped to make our neighborhood a cleaner place to live.

The City of Knoxille and Knoxville-Knox County Planning are hosting informational meetings about future changes to the Comprehensive Plan. These meetings are meant to both share the input they have received already and to gather more information from Knoxvillians.
For our neighbors in East Knoxville, there will be a meeting on 9/30 from 12pm-2pm at the East Tennessee History Center and 10/1 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Dr. EV Davidson Community Center Gym.

Join us for our 2nd official Adopt-a-Road litter cleanup on Saturday, September 26 from 9:30am until 12pm. We will be cleaning the stretch of Holston Hills Rd from Boyd's Bridge Pike to Riverside Drive. We will be meeting at Holston River Park, where cleaning supplies will be provided. Join us for Town Hall East’s first community meeting of the 2026-2027 year. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 14, 2026. As usual, the meeting will be held at Eastminster Presbyterian Church’s Fellowship Hall, located at 4904 Asheville Hwy. Our guest speaker is Russ Jensen, the Director of the City of Knoxville’s 311 Services. Get a refresher on what services can be accessed by calling 311 and learn about referrals that can be made through 211. We hope to see you there!

Please consider going to the joint meeting for the East and West District Commander Forum held by the Knoxville Police Department. This is a great chance to speak to leaders in the district in a smaller setting.

REMINDER: East District and West District residents and business owners are invited to attend a joint Commander Forum, which will be held at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church this Thursday, August 13.

East District Captain Nevin Long, West District Captain Tracy Hunter and their support staffs will be there to discuss ongoing crime trends in both the East and West Districts, crime prevention tips, answer questions and address the concerns of residents.
