Multiple generations of Ripleys have been touched by the preschool. Becky shares how the preschool is a firm foundation for the future of FCUMC.

Preschool Grandmother: 3 years and counting, 1 kid
Preschool Teacher: 19.5 years and counting (still having fun every day!)
My Preschool Students: over 200 kids
My Projected Preschool Retirement: when I can no longer get off of the floor!

FCUMC Preschool has been a blessing in my life for over 31 years. I experienced love and support as a parent dropping my children off for their first day away from me. Both Will and Anna flourished within these walls where self-esteem was built, friendships were cultivated, and a love of life-long learning was developed. They knew they were safe and loved here.

I became part of the Preschool staff while my children attended here. Busy mornings packing lunch boxes and getting out the door were rewarded by exciting tales of the day on our drive home.

After teaching in Knox County Schools again for ten years, I was fortunate to return to my “happy place” here at FCUMC Preschool in 2013. Books, bubbles, blocks, bulldozers along with heaping helpings of sand, Cheerios, and hugs make up a typical toddler day at Preschool. I now have the added bonus of catching glimpses of my grandson on the playground or in the hallway headed to Kim Gym.

The love of our church has been embracing families in the Preschool program for over 60 years. Many have become members of FCUMC because of their relationship with Preschool. Children have entered our building and found it a loving learning environment and have returned to enroll their own children in our program. They have definitely felt Jesus loving the little children at FCUMC Preschool.

Help us keep the preschool and children’s programming going for many years to come. Learn more at https://www.fountaincityumc.org/beyond-the-bicentennial/

For many Christians with ADHD, spiritual disciplines like Bible reading, Bible study, Scripture memorization, and prayer are hard to maintain.

It can seem impossible for them to grow spiritually when the church around them views daily “quiet time” as a marker of discipline.

Christians with neurodivergence are exploring other options for devotions and Bible study, like ancient Christian prayers, traditional liturgies, and balancing structure with freedom.
