Can You Sponsor 5 Items?

The Lenoir County Foster Closet is challenging our community to purchase 5 items from our Amazon Wishlist.

When a child enters foster care, they often arrive with very few belongings. Our Bags of Hope help provide comfort, dignity, and practical essentials during a difficult transition.

Items included in a Bag of Hope may include:

• New blanket
• Board game or card game
• Toothbrush & toothpaste
• New underwear
• New socks
• Hygiene products (shampoo, body wash, deodorant, chapstick, lotion, body oil)
• Optional comfort items such as a bonnet, stuffed animal, toy, PJ pants, or Bible

Every item purchased helps us be ready when a child needs us most.

5 items. One child. A lasting impact.

Shop our Amazon Wishlist today and help us fill the next Bag of Hope. ❤️

Did you know the Lenoir County Foster Closet is run by students at Collective Leadership Academy?

Our students are learning entrepreneurship, business management, and community service through real-world experience while serving foster, kinship, and adoptive families in our community.

A special thank you to Southern Bank and Ms. Susan Price for taking the time to teach our students about making a cash deposit and the importance of financial stewardship. We appreciate your patience and willingness to invest in the next generation.

These funds were earned through our Bingo Night at The Exchange Kinston (thank you Tonya) and will help support the mission of the foster closet as students continue learning how to manage and grow a nonprofit that serves others. ❤️

22 months. That's the average length of stay for a child in foster care. But in that time, a child might live in three different homes. Three different beds. Three different schools. Most things get left behind in the rush of each move.

The Bag of Hope they arrived with travels with them. Their stuffed animal. Their toothbrush. Their journal. The small things that say "this is mine" when nothing else feels like it is.

❤ One bag. One constant. Through every move.

Give $22 to fund Bags of Hope items that follow kids through every placement.

We're #10. Not a ranking we want.

🚨 North Carolina has the 10th highest number of children in foster care in the entire country. As of this February, more than 11,000 NC children are waiting on someone.

This isn't a far-away problem. It's a Gaston County problem. A Charlotte problem. A Cleveland County problem. A North Carolina problem. And it's ours to solve, together.

✨ Become a monthly donor at $10/month to provide consistent support to North Carolina children right where they are. Comment IMPACT to start giving today!

May is . Not everyone can foster or adopt, but everyone can do something.

This month, I challenge you to ask yourself: “what is my something?”

We are so grateful for the donations that came in over the weekend! Our Purple Team at Collective Leadership Academy spent part of their morning sorting donations and helping organize the closet. We are continually thankful for a community that shows up, gives generously, and helps us meet tangible needs for local children and families.

Shopping for foster, kinship, and adoptive families is available by appointment. Our heart is to serve the entire family as a way of saying thank you for opening your home to children in need. If you have a specific request or urgent need, please reach out. We would love to help however we can.

Thank you Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina and Governor Stein for supporting foster families in NC.

Thank you Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina and Governor Stein for supporting foster families in NC.

🌟 It's official! Governor Josh Stein has proclaimed May 2026 as Foster Care Awareness Month in North Carolina! 💙

This proclamation recognizes the thousands of children in foster care across our state, and the incredible foster families, kinship caregivers, child welfare professionals, and advocates who show up for them every single day. We are so proud to see the State of North Carolina affirm what we know to be true - these families matter, and this work matters.

And at FFA-NC, we are ready to celebrate! Our May Blessings campaign is in full swing - all month long we are pouring into NC's resource families with daily giveaways, events, and community connection. Want to be a part of it?
