Congratulations to Jamie Harrison, BSN, RN as the 2026 Faye Sugg Nursing Excellence Award Recipient!

This award was established in 2004 by the Lenoir Hospital Foundation following the passing of the local and longtime iconic leader of nursing, Faye Sugg.
This prestigious honor was presented during Hospital Week, and portraits of Faye Sugg and each recipient are prominently displayed in the hospital’s main hallway.

This year, a portrait of Jamie Harrison will be added to that distinguished display. Each year, fellow nurses nominate outstanding colleagues for this pinnacle award, which reflects a lifetime achievement of nursing excellence. Faye Sugg was recognized many times for her contributions to the profession and for teaching hundreds of nurses the importance of professionalism and compassionate, healing care.

Jamie Harrison is exceptionally deserving of this honor. She is a leader of integrity, compassion, and grit who inspires others through both her example and her dedication to patient care. The examples of her leadership, teamwork, and genuine compassion are truly limitless, making her a fitting recipient of this coveted award.

An anonymous patient made a thoughtful contribution to the Lenoir Hospital Foundation through our Grateful Heart and Grateful Patient Program. This expression of appreciation recognized two of our outstanding members of our physical therapy team here at UNC Health Lenoir. In the donor's own words, "Allison Wade and Gail Hardee took time to explain what they were doing and consistently went above and beyond the call of duty. It's clear they take great ownership and pride in their work. I am incredibly grateful for the care they have given me."
