In this short video series, our Education Associate Mike Kiker will be exploring the ARP Odyssey and the collectible "Instant Odyssey" preset overlay set. Created by David Frederick, former vice president of ARP, as a means of selling the instrument and giving the player some familiar sounds to get started and learn to program the synth along the way.
Does this patch sound like a harmonica? You be the judge.
And stay tuned for more episodes incoming in the following days.

from Dina Alcalay Pearlman-Ifil, Executive Director

I am stunned and saddened by the sudden passing of Lamar "Kronick" Mitchell. He is the epitomy of the Industry's many Unsung Heroes. Most people don't know who he was. Those that do, knew of him as Stevie Wonder's right-hand man, the guy who gently guided Stevie to the keyboard in concerts, parties, gigs all over the planet.

But there are some (too few) who knew him as a stellar musician who could navigate any keyboard; from a modular synth to a Hammond B3 to a Wavestation. Who played funk, hip-hop, R & B, standards, played it all and effortlesly.

Many do not know that he also had a desire to have a non-profit, that he taught kids to play instruments, that he worked with other blind musicians, that he was kind, sweet, funny as all get out, and always was true to his word.

We spoke about music, life, love, travel, hopes and dreams, writing our books about our lives (I told him he HAD to write his unbelievable story.)

I am so sad today, sad he didn't get to write that book, or come over and play Al's piano and stay in our Synth and Breakfast suite.

I invite you to watch this to learn about this giant-hearted man, who impacted the music world enormously in his own quiet way.
