She appears again. Excited to see this, Jean-Michel Jarre

French composer and producer Jean-Michel Jarre has announced a new book charting the history of electronic music through the lens of music-making machines.

Set to be distributed by New York-based publisher Thames & Hudson, Machines: A History of Electronic Music is scheduled for release on November 24 and will feature over 800 illustrations of instruments key to the development of electronic music.

The story told within Machines starts in 1913 with the publishing of Italian futurist Luigi Russolo's manifesto, The Art of Noises, moving on to the work of Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Radio France, and The BBC's Radiophonic Workshop.

Throughout the book, Jarre reflects on his own journey through music, featuring a range of rare archive material, technical schematics, recreations of sonic experiments, and sequenced stills from legendary live performances within its pages.

The book includes contributions from Dutch DJ and producer Armin van Buuren, US musician Richie Hawtin, legendary film and TV composer Hans Zimmer, synthpop pioneer Gary Numan, Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes and New Order's Gillian Gilbert.

July 28, 2026 (Asheville, NC) — On behalf of the estate of Patrick Gleeson, the Bob Moog Foundation shares the passing of the legendary electronic music pioneer. Patrick Gleeson passed away on July 19, 2026; he was 91 years old. Gleeson may be best remembered as the owner of Different Fur Studios, and for his subsequent work with Herbie Hancock. However, his career stretched well beyond those accomplishments, including producing and engineering for a multitude of musicians, recording solo albums, scoring soundtracks, and performing live.

In this short video series, our Education Associate Mike Kiker will be exploring the ARP Odyssey and the collectible "Instant Odyssey" preset overlay set. Created by David Frederick, former vice president of ARP, as a means of selling the instrument and giving the player some familiar sounds to get started and learn to program the synth along the way.
This is the final episode in this series and we want to thank the Alan R Pearlman / ARP Foundation for their support and for collaborating with this on these videos.
In this final episode, we're demoing what they refer to as the "Classic Patch". Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
