There's a moment at the end of every RUPCO event where I put my camera down and just let myself feel it.

Their annual Celebrate Community event at the beginning of June was one of those moments.

I had the honor of photographing RUPCO's 2026 annual Celebrate Community fundraiser at Highpoint, the stunning rebuilt church facility in Newburgh that has become so much more than a building. It's a symbol of what's possible when a community decides that no one should be left behind.

Kevin O'Connor, RUPCO's CEO, stood in front of a room full of donors, volunteers, and advocates, people who give their time and money so that other people can have a roof over their heads, and he got emotional. He talked about how many people he has met in recent years who were living out of their cars.

Not people who made catastrophic choices. People who ran out of runway.

I photograph a lot of events. I don't cry at all of them. The work they do, hearing the impact directly from the people they house, always makes me tear up.

If you want to support the work RUPCO does across the Hudson Valley, the housing, the homeownership programs, the community infrastructure that helps people stabilize and not just survive, visit rupco.org. Every dollar they raise at events like this one goes toward making sure fewer people spend another night in a parking lot. And if you need to host an event, they rent out the space at Highpoint to support the good work they do in our communities.

On Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, funders, legislators, residents, and community partners gathered together in the Hamlet of Highland in the Town of Lloyd to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Silver Gardens โœ‚๏ธโœจ

This brand new $22 million senior housing development represents an investment in safe, affordable housing for older adults, offering 57 one-bedroom apartments for seniors 62 and older, nearly half of which include supportive housing with case management services funded through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI). The remaining apartments offer affordable rental opportunities for seniors living on fixed incomes.

Happy 35 years to these two lovebirds! ๐Ÿ’š

Long before Jeff and Lynda starting working at RUPCO, they fell in love, got married, and built a beautiful family here in the Hudson Valley. Since they both joined our team, we've all grown to love them, too! Jeff and Lynda bring joy, compassion, and humor to their work here day in and day out, and we're so lucky to have them.

Cheers to the next 35! ๐Ÿ’

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who made this year's Celebrate Community fundraiser the biggest and best one yet! ๐ŸŽ‰

Last Thursday, June 11th, 2026, we gathered at our beautiful Highpoint property in Newburgh alongside 188 colleagues, residents, donors, elected officials, funders, partners, and friends to share about where we've been and where we're going. It's thanks to the generous support of everyone in the room and behind the scenes that we've had the privilege of pursuing our mission to create homes, support people, and improve communities for 45 years and counting. ๐Ÿ

Stay tuned for more photos of the event in the weeks to come! THANK YOU! ๐Ÿ’š

Emails like this never get old! ๐Ÿ’Œ

After several visits from the fire department to help pump water out of her damaged basement, our client Kim applied for help through the Single Family Repair Program. Ron from our Home Improvement team worked with Kim to gather documentation and identify local contractors who could handle the job, and Kim selected Nino Pagano whose work she described as "Phenomenal!"

"Any future applicants that apply for help at RUPCO and get Ron as a case worker are going to be very lucky as I was."

Thanks so much for sharing the love, Kim, and bravo to Ron and Nino for a job well done ๐Ÿ’š

Two years ago, I stood on a piece of land in Highland and photographed a groundbreaking.

A hole in the ground. A crane. A promise.

This past May, I stood in the same place and watched that promise become a home.

The ribbon cutting for Silver Gardens in Highland was one of the most moving things I've gotten to photograph. Not just because the building is beautiful. Because of the people standing in front of it.

Residents who had experienced homelessness...holding keys. Talking about what it felt like to finally have a place to land. To sleep safely. To call their own. I teared up behind my camera more than once, and I'm not embarrassed to say so.

I don't photograph just anyone's milestones. I photograph the ones that mean something to me.

RUPCO has meant something to me long before I ever pointed a camera at their work. Their NeighborWorks Homeownership Center helped my family buy our first home, and I know firsthand what it feels like to have an organization in your corner when ownership feels completely out of reach. Tonight I'll be joining them again for their annual Celebrate Community Fundraiser.

If you want to learn more about what RUPCO does across the Hudson Valley, visit rupco.org. If homeownership feels far away, their NeighborWorks program is a good place to start.

Thank you to For the Many for including RUPCO at last week's Rental Ripoff Hearing in Kingston! ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ

Kingston tenants gathered on June 2nd to discuss the most pressing issues they're facing as renters in today's housing climate. From landlord disputes to maintenance problems to skyrocketing rents, community members joined together to share what's working, what isn't, and what they'd like to see in the future. We were proud to stand alongside local businesses and organizations working toward our shared goal โ€“ safe and affordable housing for all.

Shout out to the amazing Sue and Doug for representing us so well! ๐Ÿ’š
