On Saturday, November 14, internationally acclaimed soprano and TBA alumna Sara Duchovnay returns to Temple Brith Achim for Silenced Songs: Discovering the Lost Works of Jewish Composers.

Through an intimate evening of music, Sara will bring to life works by Jewish composers silenced by the N***s — many of them women — preserving the music and stories history nearly erased.

An extraordinary evening of music, memory, resilience, and rediscovery.

Three years after the October 7th attacks, we pause to remember every innocent life that was taken and the families who loved them. Our sages teach that whoever destroys a single life is regarded as having destroyed an entire world, and so we remember every world that was lost. May their memories be for a blessing.

The trauma of that day spread from its victims and their families. It struck the hearts of Jews everywhere. We felt it deeply. We bear it still.

We make their memories a blessing through spreading the joy of Jewish life and sharing with our neighbors and community the goodness and beauty at the heart of Judaism. We honor the resilience of our people by choosing to meet what comes with hope and with love.
