Today, firefighters and public sector workers across Virginia were let down by elected leaders who chose politics over the people who serve their communities every single day.
The King George Professional Firefighters & Paramedics IAFF Local 4438 stands with the Virginia Professional Fire Fighters in expressing our disappointment over the Governor’s decision to turn her back on Virginia firefighters and working families across the Commonwealth.
Firefighters do not hesitate when our communities call for help. We show up during emergencies, disasters, and the worst days people will ever experience. We ask for leadership that will show up for us with that same commitment.
We are also disappointed that the King George County Board of Supervisors, with the exception of Supervisor Metts, voted to send a letter opposing the passage of these bills. Local 4438 believes public servants deserve leaders who support workers’ rights, fair representation, and the ability for firefighters and paramedics to have a voice in their workplace.
These decisions send a discouraging message to the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, teachers, and public employees who dedicate their lives to serving the citizens of Virginia every day.
Local 4438 will continue advocating for the men and women who protect this community, and we will continue holding elected officials accountable for the positions they take on issues impacting working families and public safety.
