Hi there, I’m Jelly Bean - although I’ve recently learned that some people also call me “house hippo.” I’m still not entirely sure what a hippo is, but from what I understand they’re cute, squishy, and enjoy lounging around... so I think I can accept this title. You may have saw me on yesterday's Find A Home Friday post, but I wanted to introduce myself fully and properly! (And show you this cute photo of me after a bath)

Life wasn’t always soft couches and cozy naps for me. I used to live out on the streets as a stray, and back then I had to figure things out on my own. Because of that, I can be a little shy when I first meet people. I like to take a minute to make sure everything feels safe. But once I decide you’re one of my people? Oh, then you get to meet the real me.

I’m curious about the world and love seeing what’s going on around me. I enjoy exploring, going for walks, and being part of the fun. But I also take my professional couch companion duties very seriously. After all that hard work, a girl deserves a good nap beside her humans.

I’m good with other dogs, crate trained, potty trained, and I’m doing really well with leash walking too! Every day I’m learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place, and my confidence keeps growing.

I think I’m ready for a home of my own now, one that will help me keep blooming into the dog I’m meant to be. And maybe one with blankets. Definitely blankets. Does that sound like you? I hope so!

Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a 2026 No-Fee/Low-Fee, All Love Grant! 🐾❤️

This small but mighty grant will help us make pet ownership more accessible for a few special families while celebrating the incredible bond between people and their pets. It also gives us a wonderful opportunity to help some of our longer-stay or often-overlooked dogs find the loving homes they deserve.

Dogs like Lucky the Chihuahua and Hope the Pittie are perfect examples - amazing companions who may have been passed over and patiently waiting for their new family, but still have so much love to give. Every dog deserves a chance, and we're excited to help more families find their perfect match. Thank you so much Foundation!

Meet Jelly Bean 🐾 A 1.5yr old, Female, Blue Nose Pittie Mix

Jelly Bean may also answer to “house hippo,” a title she’s recently discovered and is liking so far! She’s soft, sweet, and absolutely excels at lounging like it’s a full-time job.

Jelly Bean’s journey hasn’t always been easy. She came from life as a stray, where she had to learn to navigate the world on her own. Because of that, she can be a little shy when meeting new people and likes a moment to feel things out. Once she decides you’re safe, though, her gentle, loving personality really shines through.

She’s a curious girl who enjoys exploring, going on walks, and being included in whatever her people are doing. But she’s just as happy to clock out early and report for couch duty, preferably under a pile of blankets.

She’s doing great with her training and continues to build confidence every day.

This morning’s work was about love and understanding, not judgment and anger.

Our small but mighty team has been working on this particular case for about six months. It’s incredibly important to us to go the extra mile and make sure we’re doing everything the right way.

There are so many good humans out there who simply don’t have access to the resources they need. Owners who truly love their animals and want the very best for them.

So often, we come across dog owners who choose to feed their dogs before feeding themselves.

This morning’s situation was a big win for rural and we wanted to share this story to give you a glimpse into the world we see every single day.

It’s not just about getting puppies adopted. It’s about helping the humans who own the moms and dads of these puppies. It’s about getting males and females spayed and neutered so we can help prevent unwanted litters. It’s about offering support instead of simply calling animal control. It’s about giving people a hand up and helping create lasting change.

We are so incredibly thankful for all of the organizations, volunteers, fosters, and supporters who make this work possible.

As we hear so often: we may not change the whole world, but we can change the life of one dog and their human. ❤️

Hey everybody! I’m Grizzly. Now before you get nervous, I know my name sounds like I should be out wrestling bears and living in the wilderness or something... but the truth is I’m more of a professional best friend.

I’m kind of a go-with-the-flow type of guy. Want to go for a walk? I’m in. Playtime in the yard? Absolutely. Road trip? Sounds exciting. Cuddling on the couch while we do absolutely nothing? I was born for this moment.

I’ve been told I’m pretty adaptable, I just like being included. I’m sort of a jack of all trades. Adventure buddy? Yep. Play partner? You bet. Couch potato? Also yes.

I’m already sleeping quietly in my crate at night, walking nicely on a leash, and working hard on learning all my good manners. I really want to be a good boy... although I’ve heard I already am one.

I love people and I play well with other dogs too. Mostly I’m just full of love and happy to be wherever my people are.

So if you’re looking for an all-purpose, easygoing sidekick with a big heart and an even bigger supply of affection... I think I might be your guy. Come meet me!
