Prayers for all the emergency personnel working to contain the Poitery Canyon Fire. A special prayer for the families that are being impacted by the fire. We pray for their safety and that of their livestock. We have several SCLA members impacted by the fire.

Fire is at 1,996 acres and calling it 0% containment. We are thankful for how many crews are here and how quickly they arrived.

A couple of our volunteers looking equipment over before going out and some video from air support in comments.

Thank you to all who have reached out with other support like food and drinks as well.

Sure need rain.

SCLA Kimmi Lewis Scholarship -- Deadline May 4!!!!
Southern Colorado Livestock Association is proud to annually award scholarships to worthy students who wish to further their education. In January 2020 the members of SCLA renamed its scholarship the Kimmi Lewis Scholarship to honor rancher, legislator and rural advocate Kimmi Lewis who was also a staunch supporter of education. This year SCLA plans to award four scholarships in the amount of $1500 each.
Any Senior in good standing in the SCLA service area who plans to attend college or a trade school following graduation may request a scholarship application by emailing Julie Sumpter [email protected] or contact Committee Chairman Henry Brown (Branson); Ruth Shannon (Kim); Kathy Self (Springfield) or Kathie Scott (Trinidad). Deadline: The application packet must be emailed to Secretary Julie Sumpter by midnight May 4, 2026.
