Happy Earth Day! 🌎🍃🌲

Earth Day is a reminder that sustainability is often hands-on. From repairing and restoring to maintaining existing materials and structures, the trades are full of ways to extend the life of what we already have.

Small, practical choices in hands-on work can make a real environmental difference every day.

Take time today to think about what can be repaired, reused, or maintained instead of replaced.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women and girls of TradesUp. From leading hands-on demonstrations at SPARK to exploring new skills in our workshops, they inspire the next generation in the trades.

Their guidance helps young people feel confident trying new skills and see that they belong in a welcoming trades community.

We’re grateful for all they do to make SPARK and our workshops so meaningful!

Hands-on learning doesn’t just happen once a year.

There are many ways to partner with TradesUp. Schools, community organizations, and companies can host their own SPARK-style event or collaborate with us on smaller, hands-on workshops throughout the year.

These experiences give students the chance to try real tools, tackle real challenges, and discover the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.

Curious about how you can get involved? Reach out to us today via the link in our bio!

At TradesUp’s SPARK event, participants don’t just learn about the trades, they try them.

Working with your hands, solving real problems, and seeing tangible results brings a level of satisfaction that’s hard to replicate. By stepping in, using the tools, and experiencing the process firsthand, participants help break the stigma around careers in the trades, and discover new possibilities.

How do you know you love something if you’ve never tried it?

Even if Punxsutawney Phil is predicting six more weeks of winter, we’re already looking ahead to warmer days. Last summer’s TradesUp workshops brought so much energy, hands-on learning, and time spent building skills together, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

As we countdown to spring and summer, we’re getting excited for another season of workshops and opportunities for young people to explore the trades. Stay tuned for our upcoming summer schedule!

On January 17th, TradesUp founder Mason attended a reenactment at Springfield Armory honoring Henry Knox’s 1775 to 1776 transport of artillery, known as the Noble Train of Artillery.

The sledge we built for Springfield Armory’s 250th celebration was back in action, pulled by the Springfield Rifles rugby team, showing firsthand how hands on skills and problem solving have always shaped history and still do today.

Thank you to the National Park Service and Springfield Armory for an inspiring event, and thank you to the Springfield Rifles for pulling the sledge in the reenactment.
