We are hiring! 🌲NCLC is seeking a Partnership Program Manager to help strengthen conservation across Northwest Connecticut. This role works closely with local land trusts and regional partners. You'll plan trainings and events, manage our acquisition grant program, and help build a more connected conservation community.

Full-time, based in Kent, CT. NCLC offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000–60,000 depending on experience. NCLC offers full-time employees paid vacation, holidays, personal, and sick leave. NCLC pays 95% of health, life, vision, and dental insurance for full-time employees and contributes to a retirement plan.

Explore one of our future public nature preserves, take a hayride, enjoy live music and a free pizza truck lunch, and let the kids get creative with face painting. There’s something for everyone—and plenty of time to simply enjoy being outside together.

Check out this program on letting nature do its thing in your garden/landscape, hosted at Hollister House Garden in Washington on October 3.

October is a fitting time to notice the particular beauty of decay and the quiet work dead wood performs in the landscape.

What we’re often tempted to clear away- standing dead trees, decomposing logs, and brush piles- provide some of the garden’s richest habitat, offering wildlife food, shelter, and overwintering refuge.

As it breaks down, dead wood enriches the soil, encourages natural regeneration, and lends the landscape a sense of age and continuity, adding texture and character that deepen over time.

This program invites gardeners to reconsider dead wood as vital habitat, part of a healthy woodland system, and a thoughtful element in managed landscapes.

The 10th Annual Bat Appreciation Day at Old Newgate Prison is a wonderful family friendly event highlighting the importance and conservation of Connecticut’s native bat species, along with the story of one of the state’s most intriguing historical sites!

The White Memorial Conservation Center’s Director of Development, Gerri Griswold, aka The Bat Lady, will bring many special pieces of art from her collection and answer your questions about bats with her colleague, Conservationist and Bat Rehabilitator Maureen Heidtmann (who is also known as The Bat Lady!) along with White Memorial’s Research Director, James Fischer, who will discuss our BATS COUNT BAT CAM project in partnership with the CT DEEP.
