COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT!

We are happy to have Coach Nick Torres back with us for another season as our 10U B Head Coach!

Here's a note from Coach:
"I'm excited to be coaching the 10U B team again. My goal is to help every player improve, build confidence, and develop a love for the game. At this age, hockey is about much more than wins and losses. It's about learning, growing, and having fun.
I believe in three core values.
First is teamwork. Hockey is the ultimate team sport, and we'll learn to support one another, communicate, and celebrate each other's successes.
Second is fundamentals. We'll focus on building strong skating, passing, shooting, and puck-handling skills because a solid foundation helps players succeed as they continue to grow in the game.
Finally, I believe hockey should be fun. When kids enjoy coming to the rink, they're more eager to learn, work hard, and become better teammates and players. I want every player to know that effort, respect, and a positive attitude will always matter more than the scoreboard.
If we work hard, encourage one another, and enjoy the journey, this season will be a success. I'm looking forward to a great season with all of you."

We are happy to once again have Coach Joseph Knight with us as Head Coach of our 14U B team!

🏒 B TEAM EVALUATIONS — NEW FOR THE 2026–27 SEASON!

With the addition of our new Intro to Hockey program (more information coming soon!), we are making a change to how we determine B team rosters this season.

📅 Important Dates

B Team Registration:
Opens September 1st and will close September 20th
*Registering during this window will help us better prepare for B Team Evaluations that begin on October 1st.

You will see that there is NO FEE for B Team Evaluations. Registration fees will be paid after evaluations are completed and a player has been placed on a B team or directed to our Intro to Hockey Program.

Intro to Hockey Registration:
Opens September 10th and will remain open until start date
Begins October 11th

🏒 How Will B Teams Work?

We will hold player evaluations to help us identify which players are ready for the B team environment and which players may benefit from additional development through our Intro to Hockey Program.

Each B team roster will be limited to a maximum of 20 players. If more than 20 players are interested in a B team within a division, evaluations will help our coaches and staff determine the best development environment for each player.

This is not about making or not making a team!
Our goal is to place each player in an environment where they can be successful, continue learning, and build confidence in their hockey skills.

For some players, that may mean joining a B team and playing in a team-based environment. For others, spending additional time in our new Intro to Hockey Program may provide the foundation they need before moving into a B team environment in the future.

There Will Be a Place for Every Player!!
Our new Intro to Hockey program was created to give players an opportunity to develop their skating, puck skills, hockey knowledge, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.

An evaluation is not a judgment of a player's potential. Players develop at different rates, and where a player starts this season does not determine where they will finish.

Our focus is simple:
Put players in the right environment for where they are today, help them develop, and provide a pathway for continued growth.

We are excited about this new approach and the opportunities it will create for ALL of our players!

We are excited to share this important announcement!

Beginning this season, our B teams will also move to team-based billing. This means B team families will see team expenses managed and billed at the team level, just as our A and AA/Tier II teams have transitioned to.

We wanted to share this information in advance, so families know what to expect as teams get underway.

Team-based billing gives teams more flexibility to manage expenses based on their specific needs and activities throughout the season, while also providing greater transparency into where team funds are being used.

As always, our goal is to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible for our families while ensuring that each team has the resources it needs to have a successful season.

GREAT NEWS!!!

We have enough interest in the High School Prep Sessions, so we are moving forward in offering them.

📅Sessions begin THIS Friday, August 21st at 5:00pm at Soldotna Sports Center! 🚩All currently drafted sessions are listed in the registration link.
💰Cost is $150 per player. This cost covers all skates, regardless of your ability to attend.
#⃣We will have a minimum of 12 sessions and a max of 20 sessions between 8/21 and 10/11, as the High School season begins on 10/14.
😀Open to all High School age- level players (14U - 18U).
🏒Players do not have to be a part of KPHA to attend these skates. Please spread the word to others that may be interested!
🚨We have at least one coach committed to be at all sessions.
🥅All KPHA, ASHA, and USA Hockey rules will be abided by.

A Division Tryouts start this week for our 16U players!

Then next week, we will have our 12U, 12U Girls, & 14U A tryouts. 10U tryouts will start on August 31st!

A Division Tryout Tune-Up Skates will be provided on Monday, August 24th for our 10U, 12U, & 14U skaters. This Tune-Up Skate is included with your tryouts, no additional fee. The 12U Girls signed up for tryouts will attend during the 12U slot at 6:15pm.
