Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in fisheries, wildlife, and ocean monitoring? The Chugach Regional Resources Commission is offering a Tribal Youth Training Program designed to provide young Tribal members with professional experience, skills, and opportunities to learn in the field.

✨ Program Details:

Tribal youth ages 16–26
No previous experience required
10-day training event
Daily stipend of $100
Meals provided
📅 September 14–23, 2026
📍 Kasitsna Bay Lab, Seldovia, Alaska

This is a great opportunity to learn, build skills, connect with others, and explore careers in natural resource monitoring and stewardship.

We are pleased to announce that Cook Inlet Housing Authority will offer six (6) Alaska Native cultural workshops in Fall 2026-Spring 2027, continuing our efforts to preserve and celebrate Alaska Native arts and culture through community workshops and events at The Nave. This program series brings new opportunities to facilitate connection among Indigenous participants while sharing traditional knowledge.

For our first workshop this season, award-winning Yup’ik artist Merna Wharton (Nasektaq) will teach the traditional art of sewing Piluuguq (skin boots) at The Nave from September 22-26, 2026. This in-person workshop is open for up to ten (10) Alaska Native participants, with some sewing experience required. All materials, including bearded seal skins, will be provided. The Nave’s 2026-2027 Arts + Culture Workshop series is presented by Cook Inlet Housing Authority with generous support from The CIRI Foundation. This project is supported by The Alaska State Council which receives support in part from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

🎣 DON’T FORGET — REPORT YOUR HARVEST!

Here is a reminder to make sure your harvest reporting is complete!

Harvest reporting is an important part of caring for our fisheries and helps provide information used to manage these resources and opportunities for our communities and future generations.

For Upper Cook Inlet Personal Use Salmon permits, reports are due August 31st. Report your harvest online:
harvest.adfg.alaska.gov

And don’t forget: you still need to report even if you didn’t use your permit or went fishing but didn’t catch anything.

Different fisheries and permits may have different reporting requirements, so be sure to check the requirements for yours.
