Children’s mental health care should not depend on the type of insurance card a family carries.

Across New Hampshire, providers, advocates, and families are working to address critical gaps in commercial insurance coverage for children’s mental health services, including case management and other essential supports that help young people and families succeed.

Monadnock Family Services has been actively involved in these efforts through legislative testimony, advocacy letters, statewide meetings, and ongoing collaboration with partners across New Hampshire to help ensure children and families can access the care they need.

We appreciate the growing attention being brought to this issue, including efforts by Governor Kelly Ayotte and state leaders to address these challenges and improve access to care for children and families across New Hampshire.

We encourage community members to stay informed, thank Governor Kelly Ayotte for prioritizing children’s mental health, and reach out to your local Representatives to support stronger mental health coverage and funding for children and families.

Together, we can help ensure every child has access to the support they deserve.

Protecting children’s mental health must be more than a conversation. It requires investment, access, partnership, and urgency.

Monadnock Family Services was proud to join leaders from across New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte highlighted the importance of protecting mental health coverage for children and families.

Every day, we see the impact that timely mental health care can have on a young person’s life and the life of their family. We also see what happens when support is delayed, inaccessible, or out of reach.

Supported Employment Success Story: ✨Keshia’s Journey✨

At first, Keshia was nervous about participating in Monadnock Family Services’ Supported Employment services. “I didn’t think I could do it by myself,” she shared. But with encouragement and support from her Supported Employment Specialist, she built confidence and began advocating for herself.

👉 One day while shopping locally, she asked if the store was hiring. The manager interviewed her right in the aisle and hired her on the spot! 🎉

Today, Keshia says employment has changed her life. “I have my own money and I am happier. I can get a job! I am more independent and it feels so good to rely on myself.”

This experience is very different to the one she faced when she first moved to Keene in 2018, before taking advantage of MFS services. At that time, challenges arose, including difficult work environments, discrimination, and learning new job skills.

Her advice to others considering Supported Employment? “Trust them. You got this.”

Keshia’s journey is a reminder that with the right support and determination, meaningful employment is possible.💙

Monadnock Family Services' building at 64 Main Street in Keene had a small fire this afternoon at 4pm. The building was filled with smoke, but the fire was contained to the first floor and did not harm any MFS staff on the second or third floors. MFS does not see patients at this site. All MFS staff were evacuated, and current indications are that staff may return to the building tomorrow. MFS's Facilities team worked with the fire department to ensure the safety of the building.

In light of recent devastating fires at Greater Nashua Mental Health Center, MFS wanted to assure our community that MFS's situation this afternoon was resolved quickly with no injury to MFS team members. A huge thank you to the Keene and Marlborough Fire Departments for their quick response and for containing the situation.
